    do you mean the a^2 + b^2 = C^2?

This is so perfect because it actually requires a perfect triangle, which is the right triangle. This famous equation by Pythagoras could only work on a triangle that is is a right angle. He didn't come up with the sign cosine or tan relationship. It was Euclid. The equation that I motioned has an extension which was later discovered. With the extension you could use it on any triangle. Finally Heron, came up the amazing Heron's formula. You should look it up. You would be amazed at its elegance.

By the way, Pythagoras is most credited for his finding of the Golden Triangle. You should look that up as well (google it). It's really interesting. Its worth it. Believe me.

The Pythagorus theory is how you calculate the unknown side of a right-angled triangle if the other two sides are given.

The thing is that square values of the two sides that join to make the right angle added together, will give the square of the longest side aka hypoenuse aka side opposite right angle.

    a squared + b squared = c squared

It is hard to explain it without a diagram. I suggest you go to wikipedia its quite clear there. (its not a reliable source to use for school work but it gives you the idea )

Its perfect because there is a simple mathematical explanation to it. Each side of the right-angled triangle is considered a side of a square. You can then notice how this is similiar to the equation.

    good luck

Probably the most amazing (and elegant) thing about Pythagorean Theorem is that it extends directly to cover spaces of N-dimensions.
