Where to hunt in Michigan?

I am a college student who has only been in Michigan for a few years. I have hunted in Indiana for all of my life (since about 5 years old), and it has always been on land owned by my family or friends of the family. Since I've been here, I haven't been able to hunt, mostly because I am unable to find land that is open to a 20-year-old college student with a gun. I consider myself a responsible hunter, and I simply take this as an understandable pre-judgment or misunderstanding.

Does anyone know of a good place to hunt around Grand Rapids, or Kent County, in Michigan. I would love to be able to get out and hunt this year without driving 8 hours to home.

Thanks

Come down to Three Rivers. Were just south of Kalamazoo and has some awsome state land you can hunt on. Get on the michigan dnr website and go to the link for state game area's. look up Crane pond state game and print out a map. This will give you a idea of the land and connecting roads to get to them. They are all pretty much on the west side of US 131 and easy to find and are marked with the DNR signs.

Hey, there's plenty of time to get out an scout around.

    Good luck.

I would reccomend hunting up north in Atlanta Michigan, I have hunted there and its great! There are miles of land that is perfect for hunting and fishing. I have hunted squirrels all the way to deer.

I hunted over in the twin tomahawk lake area due to there is a friend of my family that owns land there. Up in Atlanta its nothing but great hunting!

If you go to the U.P. then it gets even better!

It's been awhile since I lived in MI, but ask the folks where you purchase the license. They might even have a map of the area.

I remember quite a few farm/land owners were allowed to have hunting on their property and they are required to have permits for this.

So now its time to take your aggressions and your little peter out on the only thing you can bully. What a man!!
