bathroom is latex paint its a semigloss or gloss. this enamel allows for a better gaurd against moisture build up and mildew. primer the walls and with a kilz or coverstain primer and go for it. if you use anything less than semigloss you will need to repaint sooner than the standard 5-7 years.

So-called "kitchen and bath" paint simply has mold inhibitors. I almost think you could make your own by adding borate to the paint or perhaps some white vinegar or a splash of tea tree oil.
I had been meaning to do a mold test using paints with these things added but never got around to it.
Vinegar is dilute acetic acid which kills most mold. Borate is a white powder which also kills mold, as does tea tree oil. If these things are mixed with paint, then theoretically when the mold plant sends its roots down into the surface it will encounter these substances and die.

Nothing you can do but wait. Paint other rooms before going back to that one to give yourself a break from the frustration. I agree with your decision on enamel if you use that bathroom frequently. Repels water best. You could also try eggshell latex though.

Don't do it!!!! Last summer I did because I already had the paint and now my walls are gross. The paint is chipping and every time you take a shower it makes the walls look like they're swaeting. I'm probablly going to have to start from scratch on them when I get a chance to fix it.

Semi-gloss or gloss paint is usually recommended for bathrooms because they are more resistant to moisture and water than flat, satin, and eggshell finishes.

...it will work just fine...but first make sure the surface of the walls are clean and go for it...
