Pc restarts after boot up?
Recently my desktop started randomly restarting itself. I was in the middle of of installing some stuff due to a hdd crash I had a while ago. It restarted and ever since my pc will log on for a second or 2 and just restarts. I can start up fine in safe mode. I also had a physical memory dump happen when I was messing around trying to fix it. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it.I also tried running a windows repair with the xp disc. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Thx.

Since it boots fine in safe mode, it is likely a driver issue. Turn off the auto restart, and that way you will get a blue screen error message evertime. Also, use the verifier utility to help pinpoint which driver is the cause. just go to start/run and type verifier , then creat a standards list, then select all unsigned drivers, and close it. This will make Windows flag any driver that causes and issue, instead of just error codes. You will get a message like " the sound driver has attempted to corrupt the system and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" . This type message helps a lot to identify the problem. You can delete the driver, and get the latest driver from the component manufacturer's site, and install it to correct the problem.
