Did a ghost REALLY impregnate a virgin?

Suppose a girl claimed that she was a virgin, but she is pregnant because a ghost planted his seed in her. Not her fiance who she has been traveling with. Oh yeah, her son will save us from the imperialists and lead us into eternal salvation after he is tortured to death and comes back to life.

Would modern science be able to verify her claims?

Would our legal system take her seriously?

What if Christians who worked in the science and legal and any other profession that depended on rational thought applied it to their religious beliefs? Would we have to dismantle our civilization in order to accomodate our religon? Or would people take a serious consideration of the irrationality of our dominant religon?

If it happened today she would be laughed out of town by scientists, lawyers, and christians.

Everyone knows it is totaly assanine. Logic and common sense must be put on hold when discussing religion.

I think the lady is a fruit loop.

Obviosely she was doing something with someone or she wouldn't be pregnant.

I bet she only said that because something isn't going right in the relationship and she just doesn't want her fiance to know about the kids true father.

Either that or she has just completely lost it.

It sounds alot like this elderly lady down the road who claims that jesus lives in her toilet bowl.

She also throws rocks toward the schoolbus as it goes down the road, claiming it is "the devil's transportation".

The stories of the bible are just that - Stories. The self procalimed 'holy' book really does claim some rediculous feats, one of which is the 'virgin' birth.

These stories were created from other religious myths that predate cristianity.

There is absolutely NO WAY that jesus was born to a woman who was virgin. LOL. Observation of the natural world can tell us this much

Other myths say that Mary was a common whore and jesus was born to her after conceiving a child in the normal way, after being raped by a Roman soldier.

Are you atheist?? If you believe in God, don't you think He's powerful enough to do whatever He wants. Why couldn't He send down the Holy Spirit to Mary. I believe that God was born of the virgin Mary & became man. Wouldn't you pick someone pure & pious for this task? Do you believe in miracles?? How do you explain all of the proven miracles, that can't be explained in any other way.If you don't believe in God than I'm sure you have a lot of other issues. I should pray for you & hope one day you will believe. It's great by the way.

Yes, Mary was impregnated by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God can do this. He is not like us.

This was His plan for our redemption----our Savior had to be sinless and fully man and fully God in order to pay our sin debt.

This is a miracle. Science is good but it cannot explain everything. That is what faith is.

    God's word can be trusted.

"Such people put up a version of Christianity suitable for a child of six and make that the object of their attack. When you try to explain the Christian doctrine as it is really held by an instructed adult, they then complain that it is all too complicated…..."

I think had DNA testing been available at the time that "Gabriel appeared to Mary" -- the outcome would have been different. In fact, Mary would likely have been put to death.

First part: a ghost did not impregnate Mary. God used her DNA and created a body in which He could be born in here on earth.

Second: If Christians who work in the science were free to approach science from a Biblical perspective there would be innovations in science never seen before due to the fact they allow the Creator of all things to lead what they do.

How much more rational is it to go to the author of everything to make descisions?
