Is it OK to co-sleep with your baby when you are sick (and baby is too)?
I have a 10-month old baby who is a little sick...he has a little cold and is coughing. I am also a little under the weather myself. I slept with him last night, so that I could nurse him each time he woke up from a congested nose or cough etc. But then I am wondering if he will catch my germs? Should I not co-sleep while I am sick?

you've probably got the same thing....your bubba would love having you right there, and i think that would be more important...than a few germs! hope you both get well soon

I think co-sleeping is fine even when you are sick. The germs that you have are already shared by being together all day. Just be sure not to co-sleep if you take any prescription or over the counter drugs that may make you drowsy. Co-sleeping is safe except when drugs (even legal ones) and / or alcohol is involved.
I stopped breastfeeding and co-sleeping at 6 months but miss it so much now!

With my first son, now 3 years old, he slept in my bed until he was 9 months old. He went to sleep faster and it was easier on me because I was breastfeeding and didn't have to get up. The only problem was my son would wake up every night still and want to breastfeed. I think it was more for comfort than because he was hungry. He didn't sleep through the night until I took him OUT of my bed and put him in his. I liked having him there next to me. I would recommend it but only if you do not move around a lot while you are sleeping because you don't want to roll over on him.

no- i have been co-sleeping with my 6 1/2 month old since birth and i have had the flu twice and hes never caughht it. since your breastfeeding your baby will most liekey get the antibodies for your breastmilk- if you feel overly tired like you may be ina a deep sleep though that would be a cue of danger- hes bigger now though so you should be fine

It isn't really going to matter, germs are not just contained in one area of your house or your body. If it makes you feel better and him too, then I say go for it. Be careful to not roll on the baby, especially if your feeling really fatigued from whatever illness you have.

He isn't likely to catch any more germs sleeping with you at night than he is during the day when he is being held by you, breastfed by you etc.

Yup- we always have. It makes us both sleep better!
We co-sleep anyway though- easier on all of us and we all sleep well. As well, it's "catch-up" time for our baby and I after I have been away at work for 8 hours.

You should never sleep with an infant in the bed. There are so many cases where the parent rolled over and suffocated the child. Especially when you are not feeling well, you may sleep more soundly. Put the baby in his crib.
