What are some fun things you did at your reception?

I just got married and when I was planning my wedding, I was always looking for some fun ideas. I thought that us married ladies could help our engaged sisters out there. Write one fun thing that you did at your reception. Here is mine:

Our DJ was amazing! This was one thing that he did that I absolutely loved. Not too long after the dance portion started he asked me out to the dance floor (I had no idea what he was going on). He then asked all the ladies to come out and form a circle around me. When they were in position he explained the rules:

- Whoever had the hat (he brought along a funny pimp hat) would come out to the center with me and dance.

-When he said switch, whoever had the hat would run to the circle and give it to another lady and so on.

-We had so much fun with this, I got to dance with so many of my guests, and I have TONS of great pictures with my all my girls!

- He played a lot of fun girly songs to keep the energy up. The other guests loved it!

My wedding was pretty laid back but there were two things that I did love about my reception.

    1) We put camera favors on all of the tables so we could have pictures for our albums from the guests perspective.

    2) My photograher/videographer did a slide show on this huge screen of the pictures he took during the ceremony. It was nice!

Our DJ was also awesome! He played music that everyone liked. He played older songs like Frank Sinatra, and he played Chicago for my parents and their friends and for the younger crowd he played top 40 hits. He also played Filipino songs for my mother in laws friends since my husband is Filipino. He threw in some fun things to do too, like a funny chicken dance and doing the butt and some other dances but NO macarena or electric slide!! Just be sure you tell them what you want them to play so everyone has a good time b/c I have been to some weddings with lame music and no one dances. Everyone and I mean everyone danced at my wedding and its 8 years later and everyone still says they had a good time.

We had a very small intimate wedding and reception. All of our guest were from the same town we live in, therefore no one had to travel, but we knew that none of our friends/family had been 'out' in a long time, so when it came time for our reception, we told everyone that we were having our reception at a local hotel with a nice banquet hall, about 15 miles from the church, when they all arrived at the banquet hall, it was totally empty, no food, no tables NOTHING! we had prearranged with the manager to give each couple an envelop, in each envelop was a room key for each couple to have a room for the night, while we went to our house, and spent our honeymoon locked in our home for a few days, it is now just past our third anniversary, and all of our guest get together each year at our house and give us a room at a local hotel. We gave our guest a gift that has kept on rewarding us in return!!

We had a mexican theme/style wedding. We had sombreros on the tables and did maracas as favors. We got some really fun pictures out of that and it made for a very festive and colorful wedding. Ole!

Sounds fun. We had over 30 kids and let them swim in the lake and play foot ball. It was fun to see them so happy.
