What reasons do you believe Harleys are the best?
I hear a lot of trash out here between Harley folks, and the Jap (and other) bike riders. I have owned 3 Harleys in my long time riding, and I guess the concept has escaped me as to why some, not all Harley riders are so hard core anti-Jap bikes. Why, in your opinion (and perhaps some facts) is a Harley so good. I really would like the insight, thanks.
I am really looking for some pro Harley answers folks, you never let me down!
Come on! Why aren't the anti-Jap people chiming in? I want your opinions too!

To answer your question. I still own a 1946 knucklehead that runs just fine. It was my fathers and I have kept it for that reason. I also have owned many other Harleys in the years since. It really comes to to personal taste I have nothing against any other bike or rider but Harley is my choice. I have covered all four corners of this country several times and my Harleys have done just great. I will continue to ride a Harley and I have never had a problem with any of them as long as I continue to take proper care of them. Harley has been in business longer than most of the bikes on the street today and there is a reason for that it is a well run company. Enjoy your ride whatever it may be.

Its not that Harley Davidson is actually better. Its an American thing. People remain loyal to the term "Chopper". Back in the 1970s, all the imports looked awful while Harleys looked beautiful. It wasn't until Japan started copying the style and then improving upon it that they really took off.
I'm young and love sport bikes right now but when I settle down a bit more, I am definitely getting a Harley Sportster 883. I would never get an import cruiser. The style, the sound, and the feel is still the best I feel. Most of the people who hate HD have never ridden one. Kawasaki Vulcans are terribly balanced, Suzuki boulevards are the same, Yamaha's cruisers are just bad, and Honda's Shadows are good bikes but don't have that awesome feel that Harleys do.
Sure the bigger badder Harleys cost as much as cars, but the sportster is still starting at 7 grand and it owns Japanese bikes that size....In cost and feel.

Harley is considered Americas Bike ,No matter what We do to are Metrics we still cant get that Harley sound ,We make are bikes sound good but a Harley is known by its Deep backfiring sound like a VW with a spark plug missing , You cant tell a bike by its looks but you always recognize the Harley sound ,Better bike to some, junk to others. I personally ride a Honda and have been for years now . I have found the bike that fits me and does what I ask of it ,Maybe its age but comfort is what I like these days while riding and I'm sure liking the looks of those Gold Wings more and more ,But Harley's A Really Nice bike, just not for me /

I never said they were.
I was never, and am still not, anti-Jap.
My first six bikes were made in Japan. Even the Hondas.
Aside from the personal reasons for keeping the one I now have, I still wouldn't trade it for anything else. All my personal vehicles have been old-fashioned and robust.
I have no need for speed. I always get where I'm going.
I have always liked large displacement engines and house-pulling power.
Simply built is simply maintained, and simply repaired.
I live by the KISS principle. It works for me.
Hey, udontremember,
That's 735 lbs, unknown HP(probably 45-50) and a six speed.
If you want to knock the numbers, at least use the correct ones.

they are top quality. extremely fun to ride and are the best looking. the rich chrome and paint is flawless. they are high tech as well.my bike has abs and linked brakes and the 1st bike in the world to have voice command. it also has blue tooth and gps and triple disc brembos.7 ply tires led lights fuel injection hydraulic clutch and sounds beautiful. goes 0-60 in 4 secs and weighs 800 plus pounds and can hop it up up to 350 or 400 hp with a trask turbo with mods.i mean even when your low on fuel the infotainment will ask if you would like a turn by turn route to the nearest gas station!!!! did i mention extremely reliable.dont forget the engine, transmission ,frame ,tank seat, saddlebags, fenders, fairing, side covers, inner fairing, infotainment, speakers, tires, fuel injection, belt and sprockets and much much more are made in the usa and its an american company tat has plants around the world.an extreme american success story like a corvette or ford gt 40.

There is no tangible reason. And probably due to me being part german I believe tangible performance attributes(which includes everything from speed to comfort) is all that counts and all that should count. This "feeling"(I just feel a sickly vibration) that people claim to get from a Harley is something that I just can't understand or feel and I have ridden one before (my uncles 2007 super glide). Then there is the severe lack of refinement and technology. I just can't take anything with an engine that makes less hp per liter than my lawnmower seriously. The fact that they sound like a cross between a tractor and a paint mixer doesn't help me much either.

i can in simple terms say that i'm a NHRA fan and love listening to the roar yet imagine Harley's are cool yet some are to loud for the on a daily basis stress kinda ridiculous yet its like those who stress corvettes they're compensating for some element LOL

Each and every bike has its purpose. Harleys are for the same type of people who would rather have '69 Camaro Convertable instead of a Porsch. While they may not be hi-tech, they do retain alot of the old school mystique and charm. There is nothing better than turning that throttle at any speed and feeling that low end torque. If you want speed, get a sport bike, if you want to enjoy the trip and see the sights, get a Harley.

lets just put it this way.....people who talk trash against any make of bike are people that have lost the grasp of the reason why we ride......it is not supposed to be an image...although for some it is.....it is the love of the open road and the skill it takes to ride....any bike if properly maintained will perform just fine, i think people just need to take the kickstand outta their a$$e$.. and indulge in some retrospect as to why they love riding and how they feel when theyre out on their ride...everyone is out there for the same reason....live to ride.........
