In a study of hundreds of wines from around the globe, Cornell researcher Leroy Creasy found the highest resveratrol levels in pinot noir grapes grown in cooler, rainy places like the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and Oregon's Willamette Valley. (In fact, the highest resveratrol content found in a wine was in Vinifera's Fleur de Pinot Noir, with four times as much as the nearest California pinot noir tested; chart). Long sown in France's cool Burgundy region, pinot noir is considered a finicky grape to grow, in part because it is susceptible to rot, which may be the reason it produces more resveratrol than other grapes--up to 40 times as much resveratrol as grapes such as merlot and cabernet sauvignon.

Castilla Leon region in Spain: Which includes Ribera del Duero, Toro, Zamora, etc.
This wine from Castilla Leon is the best in the world for my taste. I tasted some of the best wines from Italy, France and California and you cannot compare.
The Wine from Castilla Leon is dark burgundy red, light does NOT transmit THROUGH this wine in your glass. Even if you hold your glass against the light.
Try Astrales 2004, Mauro 2004 or San Remo 2003 to name a few. These wines a priced at about $40 and up, depends where you buy them, in Spain they are like 25 Euros. They are pricey but the way they taste they should cost a lot more. Astrales 2004 is one of my favorites. This wine is so fruity and thick and packed with antioxidants.
Just try one and compare and you will cry at the taste.

hmm.. only moderation will increase your lifespan. The benefits of red wine are that the grapes used to make it contain some antioxidants and a small amount of alcohol has been shown to actually be beneficial towards relieving stress on your heart and body, but it should be noticed that too much has the opposite effect.
However you could get the same antioxidants from fruit and it would probably be more beneficial for you because it would have more nutrients your body needs. Try making a smoothie once a day with a banana and blueberries or strawberries thrown in without added sugar. If you want you could even put a small amount of alcohol in with the smoothie that would be better for you than wine or better yet skip the alcohol.
Too much alcohol is quite bad for you so the more you drink the more it is actually going to decrease your odds at a longer lifespan. Stick to no more than 1 glass a day.

I don't know which wine, but I DO know that pomegranate juice bought our local Braum's store has something like 3 times more the amount of antioxidants in it than red wine. The info is posted on their wall showing it in comparison to wine and other known antioxidants. I can drink it and not worry about getting canned at work!!

Red wine brings the most benefits to the table. I have been drinking red wine for over 15 years and find that spending a few bucks more for good wine is well worth it....you don't skip on vitamins so why skip on good wine....you buy a nice car so why not good wine...etc...

Also if you just starting to drink wine try the Mcmanis Family Wines these are $10ish or so and drink very nice and they have many varietals to get a broad scope with little money out of your pocket!

but if u want 2 have a gud heart u should drink red wine or dis brand: Cabernet Sauviguon

If you are looking for Antioxidant effects almost any red wine will do, but it is better if it is organic. Also know that if you consume more than 1-2 glasses per day, you lose the beneficial effects, and you actually shorten you lifespan. Furthermore, you can get better results from pomegranate juice, but it's just not as fun or social to drink.

the antioxidants in red wine mainly come from the crushed grape seeds. best way is to make your own wine.
Also, to get the same benefit of drinking wine, eat the skin and seeds whenever you eat grapes, even though they won't be completely absorbed, it will still make a big difference.
If you want to prolong life and live healthily, i suggest some foods (in order of significance) :
1) tomatoes (lycopene slows down ageing and prevents cancer)
2) garlic (100x more antioxidative activity than vit E)
3) green tea (currently the best health drink)
4) change your oil to cold pressed olive oil
5) blueberries (very high antioxidant content)
6) walnuts
7) oily fish (omega-3 for young skin, and prevents dementia)
8) lots of water + a bit of sunlight everyday (for good skin, joints and bones, provided you wear sunscreen)
9) antioxidant supplements
10) mineral supplements (calcium, selenium, zinc and iron)
Finally, decrease your caloric intake altogether, high food intake = high metabolism = high oxidative stress on the body = lots more DNA damage
Stay lean, muscly and a little hungry is the way to 120!

Despite what so-called doctors are saying, two or three glasses of red wine is excellent for one's health. You can also gain the same antioxidant promotion from grapeseed, fish oil, blueberry and milk thistle combo. Otherwise, if you are an alcoholic, do the same combo and live life to the fullest (with a buzz!)
