I absolutely loved the Phantasm movies.
Top three are hard to pick but aside from the Phantasm movies I'll go with...
The Fog (original)
Hellraiser
Carrie
Did you know they are projecting Phantasm 5 for a 2008 release with Angus, Reggie and Michael (Mike) back in their original roles?

Premonition (Japanese~2004)
The Haunting (original)
Phantasm
I cannot leave it at three. As a dyed-in-the-wool film buff, I simply have to name more of my favorites. You see, the three I list aren't necessarily my favorites, but they are off the top of the head, as the saying goes. Here are some more:
Fright Night
Lost Boys
The Innocents
Halloween (original)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, 3 & 4
Scanners
The Medusa Touch
Poltergeist 1-3 (third the least)
The Fog (original)
Curse of the Demon aka Night of the Demon
Gravedancers
Route 666
The Legend of Hell House
Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2
The Ring 1 & 2
The Grudge 1 & 2
Final Destination 1 & 2 (3 just isn't up to par.)
The Blind Beast
The Gate
The Ninth Gate
Rosemary's Baby
The Creeping Flesh
NOTE: The fetish (African) doll appears in two films: "Trilogy of Terror" 1 & 2. In the first one (the scariest to me), it is Karen Black who deals with the fiendish creature in her apartment. In the second one, Lysette Anthony and a number of people in a museum have to battle the creature. I think one-on-one made for a more-frightful encounter. In the first film, they identified it as Zuni but changed it for the second film. Both are made for TV, which shows you that TV movies can pack some scares!
