38 weeks and discharge?

Question

I'm just over 38 weeks and had my membranes swiped on wednesday.  I was told that I'd be spotting, but I'm still having bloody discharge.  It's not bright red, just brownish.  I've already lost my plug, so I know that not it.  I was dilated to 2cm.  I don't remember this with my first two. I'm waiting for my doctors office to open so I can call, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had this.

Brown discharge usually means old blood.  it is probably left from the "scraping" you had.  It just finally made it's way down.

i am 38 weeks also and was having the same discharge after an appointment and read that it can be cause from the cervix being messed with.

I had this with my second pregnancy.  I actually was starting labor that day.  I did not deliver until that night about 6pm and it started at 6am.

I had it, its normal, unless you are bleeding heavily, soaking up a pad in an hour, then you have to go to the hospital.
