How do you rein yourself in from a binge? I was diagnosed with type two a year ago. I quit smoking?

excersized daily, changed my diet completely, lost eighteen pounds and was hitting my target range so consistantly that I was thinking of dumping the meds. Then, about a month ago, I suffered a hearty emotional blow. I freaked out! Been on a smoking and eating binge ever since - I just don't care. I don't need a lecture (I know it's bad and self distructive - that's why I'm trying to stop! I know bad things happen to everyone and I'm being a big baby!) I am just interested in your own personal techniques for coming out of a tailspin and getting back on track.

Update:

And again, I know I need to diet with excersize. That's just being preachy! Looking for specific things from actual people who actually have diabetis that you yourself have done to kick your very own ***. (Have you noticed you can't spell check your edits?)

So you back slid! Big deal! Now you have to start all over and become more determined to do even better. I go on a tangent with my food. I get so hungry at times and get tired of denying myself of some of the really high carb things I love. Then I go on a binge, eat like crazy, feel guilty, eat more. Then when I check my blood sugar it is usually an eye opener and I know I have to back down. It is just a matter of putting your mind into it and doing what you need to do. Quitting smoking is very hard. I did that 18 years ago for the last time. One minute at a time is how I did it. Kept my hands and mind busy. Now finding out I am having to use the same philosophy for my diabetes. Keep my hand and mind busy, eat good snacks when I feel an urge and then go for a walk. Walking is the best exercise for a diabetic. Just know you have others out here that have their moments too. But you can get back on track and do it. I'm rooting for ya!

Hi baby!! you can do this!! I did, all except the quit smoking, several times!

We all get on a trip to that strange land of DeNile where we think we are unstoppable!

Well, time to come home or take insulin!! Just remember this is a progressive disease we have and it progresses in each of us in its own unique way!

So just go back to work on your control and hope you haven't done too much damage to your toes, fingers and eyes.

'Endorphins', 'endorphins', and 'endorphins'. Get walking and get the positive chemicals surging through the brain. This will help in the momentum of changing pace again, as it simply makes you feel more positive mentally.

    Best of luck.

Do what you need to do, diet WITH EXERCISE, and take your meds.

My sister has type one, and that's a hell of a lot worse than type two!!! You're lucky!!!
