why many people are writing "x-mas" instead of CHRISTmas?

Is this a sign of the forth coming of the devil?

The true essence of christmas today is vanishing........Is'nt it?

I agree with several of the other comments above.

    1. we as humans are becoming lazy...if its not xmas it happy holidays in order to not offend others.

    2. also the X does stands for Christ in an essence...yet its not the reason the word Christmas was changed to xmas...the political reason behind it is what makes it stand...

There's no forth coming of the devil.

When x-mas is used instead of Christmas, the word for that is lazy. Apparently for some people Christmas is too long a word to write.

When I see x-mas used instead of Christmas, it tells me that the person writing out their Christmas cards are in a hurry to just get "this" over with and I really don't have time for this.

The true meaning of Christmas gets lost amongst the hurried "x-mas" cards and running around over extending credit cards to buy Christmas presents and don't even know what to buy. Throw it in the cart and keep on going.

Yes, the true meaning of Christmas gets lost some where along the way. However, that doesn't mean the true Christmas has to vanish for you.

Because Christians allow their celebration of the birth of Christ to be hijacked by the retailers. If we would just stop the over spending and put the meaning of the holiday back into what we do then we could all eradicate the use of X-mas. Heck even my Dad, who was an atheist, found the use of X-mas abhorrent and said all Christians should stand up for their faith.

People put Christmas as x mas because x is short for christ.

People use it today because they're lazy. Traditionally, X was a symbol of Christ... so "X-mas" and "Christmas" are really the same thing.

I think it's because we're getting lazy. We have to rush rush and hurry hurry all the time, so this is a way to get it done a little faster. Not meaning to offend people. It's just something people do.

It has become the politically correct method started through the commercialization of the season. Sad people are not willing to stand up for their beliefs and they allow the almighty dollar to be the dictator.
