Fellow Dems, how do you feel about our representatives in NY granting Licenses to illegals? I know Bush has?

The answer is very, very easy.

No license, no insurance

Without a license, the illegal who runs into you is 100% sure not to be insured.

Yes, yes, I know, the illegal is here illegally, but they still need to go through the process of deportation or changing from illegal to legal.

So in the mean time, license, and lets hope they also get insurance.

Controlling illegal immigration is a national problem that the federal government has not dealt with. NY State can't do anything to seal the boarders with Mexico. This driver's license idea is an attempt to protect the citizens of NY State from the dangers of unlicensed, uninsured motorists.

I don't think it will work though, because people who are here illegally will not risk getting a license and making it easier for them to be tracked down and deported.

You are not true dem and this is not a major mistake from our side. They are already driving so we must as well insure them and make everybody safer on the road. Every Dem candidate supports legalization and most of our base is okay with it. If our base didnt like it they wouldn't be advocating and supporting that view. Look at the republican side, every candidate is trying to look tough on immigration because their base demands it.
