The pipe isolator that completely surrounds your pipes and eliminates any contact between the pipe and stud. Helps stop the transmission of water noise and pipe rattle by isolating the pipe from the wood.

The wood stud in a wall acts much like the body of a violin or guitar, and resonates the sound of water rushing through the pipes. This contact between the pipes and studs amplifies the sound of the water. The pipe isolator helps reduce this noise and secures the pipe to the stud at the same time.

    Isolator

Isolator is a small menu bar application that helps you concentrate. When you're working on a document, and don't want to be distracted, turn on Isolator. It will cover up your desktop and all the icons on it, as well as the windows of all your other applications, so you can concentrate on the task in hand.

Isolator is similar to, but not the same as Think and Backdrop. The difference is that it works exactly how I want it to. Maybe you'll like it too.

    Get Isolator!

The current stable version is 1.0 . Get it here: Isolator-1.0.dmg. Isolator works on Mac OS X 10.4 and greater.

The current development version is 1.02beta. It adds support for multiple monitors, and is available here.

Install Isolator by mounting the disk image and dragging Isolator to the Applications folder.

    Using Isolator

Start Isolator by double-clicking it in your Applications folder. It will install a small square icon in your menu bar.

To turn Isolator on, click on the menu bar icon and select 'Turn Isolator On' from the menu that appears. You can turn it off the same way. Alternatively, you can press 'F8' to turn it on and off. The menu also has a Preferences pane that allows you to customize how Isolator behaves. For example, you can tell Isolator to start when you log in, change the shortcut key that turns it on, and change the color of the Isolator background.

For hot and cold water supplies and heating, copper is now the most common form of pipework in houses. Adapters are readily available to make connection to other materials possible. Adapters are also available to overcome the size difference between imperial and metric gauges.

With the ready availability of copper pipe and fittings from DIY stores, many plumbing jobs are now well within the scope of the Do-It-Yourselfer. Whether you want to add an outside tap, change the position of the sink or repair a damaged pipe, there are only a few simple techniques to master. It will then be possible to carry out a wide variety of plumbing work.

There are two main types of connection for use with copper pipe.

    Compression fitting

These are the more expensive to use, but are also the easiest. They can make DIY plumbing less daunting since they have no soldering involved. Because of this, it is possible to fit them to pipes which are wet. Despite draining off a section of pipe to work on, it’s not uncommon to get a dribble of water at the joint being worked. This will not cause a problem with compression fittings, but can prevent a soldered joint from working. They are however, considerably bulkier and more obtrusive than soldered joints.

In Electrical Engineering, an Isolator is a switch like device meant to ensure a circuit can be isolated from the power source.

In microwave engineering, an Isolator is a ferrite device which allows signals to go in one direction but attenuates signals from going in the other direction. It has the added benefit of ensuring that the source of the signals sees the design impedance no matter what, in reason, happens at the load, i.e. going towards open circuit or short circuit, etc.

isolator?in general is the device or tools which help to isolate between 1 part or function with another, so in copper pipe i guess it would be the filter it self.

An isolator is a two-port device that transmits microwave or radio frequency power in one direction only. It is used to shield equipment on its input side, from the effects of conditions on its output side; for example, to prevent a microwave source being detuned by a mismatched load.
