Trunk or Treat?... and Trick or Treat?

Is any one any where else doing the trunk or treat thing in the U.S.? Where I'm at most of the churches are setting up outside tonight to give candy to kids from the trunks of their cars..

Is this a new thing?

I myself think its a good idea and maybe will spread if it hasn't already...

my church is actually doing this for the first time tonight also. I don't know if i like it or not yet. I think that the best part f trick or treating was of course getting th ecandy but it was actualy running to each house and riding on a trailer to each street. I think the kids that are doing trunk or treat are actually missing out but maybe it isn't that bad. I thin kthat the kids would possibl get bored with just going to trunks. what do you think about it?

That depends on the area. If the area has a lot of drug trade (most dealt out of the trunks of cars), this isn't really the idea you want to be giving your kids. I do understand, however, some areas aren't really set up well for trick-or-treating, and this is a good alternative.

Well, I've never heard of it in churches, but my son's school does it every year on the day we have the Fall Festival. I had a really good time last year and all the adults dress up and decorate their cars while the kids parade around in their costumes. It's great fun and saves us from having to trick or treat. It's done in one place and it's a safe environment.

This year they canceled the fall festival because of all the fires (I'm in Southern Cali). The air quality was pretty bad and the district canceled all outdoor activities at ALL the schools. So we're off to trick or treat tonight after I pick everyone up from after school programs!

The trunk-or-treat thing is mostly done for the children at their churches that they go to. We live in Georgia and that is what some of the churches do here. It is done before halloween night and then the children can still go trick-or-treating on halloween night.

I have heard of it, but I think it's kind of lame. The fun of trick or treating is to walk around in the dark, going from house to house. Why not just buy your kid a bag of candy instead? Even less walking than "trunk or treat"!

Yep I am on the west coast and churches all over here do that. I don't want to go to it though because we have such a small parking lot and I am out to set my candy record this year. LOL.

Yep here in the midwest that is what we are doing as well. I like the idea of alot less walking!

I live in Kentucky and they have done it for quite a few years now. I think that it is a great idea.
