Chantix - is it true that someone died from this medication?

I have looked online and cannot find anything, but I was told by a friend that it actually killed a guy. I want to say that he was drinking alcohol, and that this had something to do with it. I'm just curious...I'm starting my first pack this weekend... this is a new medication, you know they always find out things after it's been out a while. I'm not too too worried, and I have read a good bit about it. I think any medication which deals with the rate of dopamine production could cause serious side effects. I'm definitely not qualified to say so... but I do know a heck of alot about the "d" factor... I know it's extremely important in dealing with mental health... ups and downs... the "feel good" feeling, anyhow, I'm getting off the subject... do you guys know anything about a guy dying from this med?

I was talking to my cousin the other day. He had been taking it for a few weeks and it started to scare him. He works at a dangerous job and all of a sudden he stopped caring about safety. Its like it did not matter if what he was doing was risky, it was ok with him. Its like nothing scared him. He stopped taking it before he did something really stupid. There are just some things in life and some situations you just dont need to feel good about. Fear breeds caution. Im not going to take this stuff.

Let me add that it is EXTREMELY effective in quitting smoking. I know several people who have quit with no problem at all. Its a wonder drug. Just hope it doesn't make you walk out into traffic.

Have not heard that..and I have not recieved ant Alerts in the mail..which all providers get..if something is caused by a drug.Remember cigs can and will kill people everyday...Everything is a risk vs benefit..sugar vs nutri-sweet etc...With millions of people taking Chantix..there probably will be people that will die while taking it..but it might not be from the drug at all...just like prozac which was cleared...there were and are millions and millions of people on it...so you will have the normal bell curve of some people dying anyway when there are that many people involved...it will take time to isolate to one drug..but it has been used in europe for years...
