God gave you life and is therefore your father in the truest sense of the word. What real father does not love his child? What father does not want the best for his child? What father will not correct his child when he sees that child doing wrong? God allows trials and trouble in our lives not only for our growth, but also to benefit others. Have you never gone through a tough situation, and then later be able to advise and help someone in a similar situation? He gave us this incredible onetime gift called life. He also gave us the gift of free will to make our own choices in that life. Many of the troubles in our lives are the result of choices we have made, not the whim of a hurtful, capricious god. Eagles push their young out of the nest at a certain time. Do they wish the eaglet harm? On the contrary, the adult eagle knows that the child will never learn to soar without being challenged. If the eaglet never leaves the nest, he may grow to resemble a true eagle, but he will not be able to fly as he should. God knows that you have free will and will not always make the wise choice. He has provided forgiveness through His Son and will, through His Son, eventually take you home. He knows the plans He has for you- plans for good and not for evil. Trust in Him and His Son and you will be loved, guided and supported now and for eternity. He's your father. Take your questions and problems to Him and He will always give you comfort and the right answer.

The trials and tribulations we go thru happen for a reason that many times we may not know. God does love us unconditionally, but unconditional love isnt an easy thing. Think of it this way, a parent loves their child unconditionally yet there are times that we have to be tough on them and make them do tings they dont want to, its for their own good and to teach them things like responsibility, respect, and love for others.

I don't really believe in a mystical spiritual love or in God for that matter. But I do believe that trials and tribulations are, in the long run, beneficial to us. We are the ones that get to determine whether or not they will benefit us. If we had no trials and tribulations, we would probably be a very selfish species.
Side note, I wonder if we are already a very selfish species... hmm..

Loving unconditionally does not mean there are no consequences or punishments. Any good parent can attest to this. Love is not obsession. It is a sincere care for a persons well being and a true empathy for their life situations as well as compassion for their existence. It may also be the case that God does not or cannot control the consequences that fall upon people's actions. This does not necessarily mean that He does not love us. Perhaps He weeps for the same things and at the same time as we do.

He does love us unconditionally. But our not suffering is not the most important thing in his plan. More important is that we experience the full array of life experiences, and a big part of that is bad stuff.
We are not just "going back to his abode" we are moving onto the next stage of existence, and I think that is what this life is preparing us for.

We all understand "God" in different ways.
Anyone who loves you doesn't put through hell just to see your reaction. If they do its usually because they made a mistake or made a bad calculation.
God, who is supposed to be all knowing, all good and the purest form of love is therefore not perfect. It seems, God, the way most people understand him/her, makes many of us miserable or allows misery.
Many things connected with man made religious belief does not compute and this is why we have a growing number of agnostics and atheists around and an ever increasing number of Pagans.
People expect too much of what they call God, as they know God. Most people approach God with a shopping list of "I wants". Whenever you ask for something there is a chance of rejection. Whenever you give something there is less likely to be rejection.
So why don't we all become giving and stop expecting great things from God. When something then goes wrong we can blame ourselves and when things go right we know it was something we did right, not God.

You're asking several questions.
1. God does love us unconditionally.
2. However, since God is pure and holy, He cannot love our sin.
3. He fashioned a means for our sin to be paid for. First, by the sacrificial system of a sinless blood offering of a lamb or dove. And then by the sinless blood sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.
4. From then on, it's our own personal decision to accept Jesus' sacrifice to pay for our personal sin. That's where the forgiveness comes in.
5. Eternal reward comes for those whose sin is covered by Jesus' blood sacrifice. Since God cannot have sin in His abode, anyone who hasn't accepted Jesus' sacrifice personally is remanded to the place God made for all who cannot be in heaven with God's holiness, or hell.
Although this sounds harsh, it is the basic tenets of Christianity. Christians are not better or superior to those of other religious persuasions. True Christians know they are forgiven sinners who will join God in heaven only by His grace and mercy, not by anything we do.

I personally do not believe in God, but here's what I bet someone who does believe would say -- and I think it's logical as well:
God does love us unconditionally, but he still lets us learn lessons by suffering through the consequences of our choices. Just like we love our children unconditionally, but we do what's best for them in the long run, not what's most comfortable for them at the moment.

I think God unconditionally loves everyone. It may just turned out to be conditional to the minds of some.

the same reason why a parent forces a child to go through school... to learn things... me personally i dont like hanging around with people who doesnt know how to think, i bet god doesnt like dumb humans either(but he loves em anyways) thats why he sent us to earth to know things, they dont exactly have to be academic or technical, but at least we have to know how some things are.
God gives us trials and tribulations mostly to see if we are deserving of heaven. there is violence to sift through people who wants to fight, and to see people who wishes for peace. God gives tragedy to see who is willing to help out others. god gives pain and misery to those, to see who has compassion. there can be no cure if there is no disease. God will judge us by our actions, not by his standards.
*note - all that i have said are nothing more than my speculations. i have no right to say that these are what god maybe thinking regarding the question for i, and my thinking is nowhere near god's level of thinking.
