Burlingame, CA?
We are going to SF in a month and the hotel where we booked at is located in Burlingame. It says its located 13 miles from downtown SF. Is it pretty easy to get to downtown and all the other attractions in SF from where we are at? Also is it a safe place?
If you have any other suggestions as to what we could do during our stay, please feel free to give your input. There is just going to be the two of us...
We are renting a car.

Hi Kyle,
Burlingame is totally safe, but always keep your wits about you. They have great restaurants there and you will love it. San Francisco is a fun, fun place. Some places that come to mind are, Haight Ashbury , Golden Gate park both of these are close to the Golder Gate Bridge(A must See for out of towner's) there is a lot of great things to do in Golden Gate park. There is Japan/China town, the wharf with pier 39 and the Ghiradelli chocolate building. You can take a cruise to Alcatraz prison on the wharf. Coit tower. Hwy 1 is unbelievable and you can take a great drive to Pescadero where if you take Pescadero creek road to the redwoods to Pescadero creek, I promise you wont be disappointed. Also if you want to stay in San Francisco the Cliff House and Ocean beach next to it would be a beautiful walk on the beach and across the hwy is the San Francisco zoo. I would also suggest if you like art to visit the San Francisco museum of modern art and the Legion of Honor which is a museum with incredible art and views of the city outside and also the natural history museum is great. Must see Lombard street the curviest road in the world. I would also suggest getting in touch with the visitor bureau in San Francisco for more info. Remember to bring warm clothes as it could be quite cold and 15 minutes later warmer(crazy weather) changes quickly.
Welcome to our city and have a great time
Laura
P.S. what ever you do you must have Chinese food in San Francisco

Burlingame is a nice place to stay, renting a car can be pricey,as parking in the city-SF, is an average 15-25 dollars a day, and that depends how long and where you park it.. Your best bet is to take Bart, from Millbrae to the city and/or rent your car for trip to Napa(wine country) or Monterey /Carmel..
Bart round trip is about $7 each person to the city
There are real good places to eat in Burlingame-check out downtown burlingame- on burlingame ave..
just a few ideas-have fun...

Burlingame is a very safe town. There are good shopping places on burlingame ave. It also has a very nice area called hillsbrough. No stores but very nice houses too look at. Its sort of a small place, but lots to do. Hope you have fun there.
Also, yes, its easy to get to sanfrancico. Just take the 101 north and it will take you straight there. SF has its safe spots and not so safe spots. Just becarful where you go. I recomend going to Fishermans warf, Peir 39. http://www.pier39.com/
Also try this website http://www.sanfranciscoonline.com/
there are great events there.
If you get the chance, try going to golden gate park, its a very nice spot to walk, relax. There are also many museums. most of them are on the website.
Hope this helped.

Ye, Burlingame is considered on of the upper class area of the penninsula. I used to live just a little futher south in San Mateo. You can take the I-101 or 280 freeway to get to SF.
I will take you only about 20-30 min. with good traffic.

I don't know much about it, but a friend who recently got a job there told me that people jokingly call it "North Los Angeles", though I don't know why exactly. If you're taking public transportation, 13 miles could take you a while, but I'm sure its not unreasonable.
