Do you ever feel like you have magical powers when you walk up to an automatic door and it opens for you?

No. I never thought of that before--but I will from now on. I like it!

When they first were installed at my college in the 80s, my friends and I used to joke that we were on the lamest episode of Star Trek ever. And then we would take turns pretending that we had magical or special powers that made the doors open by snapping our fingers or touching our forehead just as we walked toward the doors.

I like to pretend to have the force and "wave" grocery store doors open with my powers. But it's just for fun whenever I do it--I don't *really* believe I have that power. I know it's either a motion sensor or a pressure sensor under the mat. Don't know which one though. lol

But yeah, it's fun to pretend, but it's not real.

The automatic doors at the mall dont like me.

They arent human. So they are the magic ones. Not me.

I only notice the door when I'm trying to go somewhere quickly and it doesn't open soon enough. Than I think that there's someone in that sensor not paying attention to who's coming their way.

yep, lol, it is weird, but the automatic door can feel where you are and also the people's feet inside, like the traffic lights on the road for instance

damn door! the force is weak with me :( I once walked into a door because it didnt open for me....i just kept walking expecting it to open any second...but no....all i did was leave a face mark on the glass...must have accidently avoided the laser beam....or im invisible...maybe thats why no chix notice me....hmm interesting.............

Hahahaa!!! Sometimes I do... I get all dramatic with it and wave out my hand in a "commanding" arch... I'm sure it looks pretty foolish to passer-bys sometimes... (or all the time...)

The grocery store is opening its doors so I can open my wallet.

I don't think about it as much anymore, but when I was a kid, I thought that was the coolest thing ever!
