9 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoWhy do people think that happy, outgoing, cultured guys are gay?
Can't a guy just be happy -go- lucky and into the finer things in life without having everyone assume his sexual orientation?

21 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat do you think about transsexuals?
Keep in mind transsexuals aren't necessarily HOMOsexuals. I know how some of these religious people feel about THAT. And I'd like responses from your heart. Not what your church thinks, or your bible thinks..I wanna know what PEOPLE think.

12 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoHow do you tell the difference between a Sn1 and Sn2 reaction in organic chem?
I don't understand how you can tell, given a reaction, if it proceeds by an Sn1 or an Sn2. What "signs" am I looking for to determine which one?
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoNow...to all who participated in my word game...?
Do you see the stereotypes we equate with male, female, and transgender?
Female got the "soft", the "beauty" the "feminine" and mostly positive things.
Males got some negativity in terms of aggression, and fighting and things like that.
Transgenders get the worst. We're labeled as "eww", and "confused" and "chicks with d**ks" ect. This is society views us.
So..to answer the person who asked about the G L B vs T question, there's your answer to why we dissassociate from the gay community. Not just the GLB community but much of society in general. It's no fun being part of a group that doesn't make you feel empowered or equal.

16 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoAs a GLBT person, do you feel that straight people accept you, or merely tolerate you?
I had asked a question last night about the phrasing, "I accept gays", and said that I felt like it was about gaining approval. A lot of people responded with things like , "you shouldn't be so negative of anyone that is showing tolerance" or whatever.
That got me thinking. There's a HUGE difference between acceptance and tolerance. To me, acceptance relates to equality, but with GLBT's I feel it is still unequal in that you still have this power heirarchy there (you have to be "approved" of by the dominant power or majority). Where tolerance is basically just being tolerated. It's like saying "I don't like it, but I'm willing to be annoyed by it".
Anyone else's thoughts?
13 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoDo people who say they "accept gays" really think that GLBT people are looking for their approval?
I don't know, but hearing someone say "I accept gays", or "I'm gay friendly" or whatever just seems like a control thing to me. It reminds me of an old English king/queen movie where they're tapping the knights with the sword or whatever and declaring their approval or something.
Do straight people really think GLBT's need this "approval"?

4 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoI'm having a problem with answering this question. Can I get some advice?
Ok. so I identify as a straight transguy. However, I am heteroflexible. Meaning..I like bio girls, I like post op trans women, and I like tranguys that haven't had bottom surgery. I am homogendered and heterosexual. Meaning, I like a masculine gender, but am attracted to the female sex (as in sex organ).
So, I am crushing on another transguy that I go to school with. He's post op, but hasn't had bottom surgery. He's very passable and identifies as a gay man. I identify as primarily straight. Word has gotten out that we're both interested in each other. So now, I have people in my GLBT student organizations asking if I'm bi or gay, and I'm not. I don't feel that I am because I don't really dig the penis if you get my drift. But I DO like this transguy.
How do I answer this question? I don't want to out him, and I don't want to say "I'm not gay but he is" because that brings up MORE questions. How do I respond to this?

18 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade ago(Expanstion of last question) Which is more entertaining? A gay bar or a straight bar?
And I'm not talking about all the drama..just in general. Which would you rather go to?
Me personally, if it WASN'T so full of drama, I'd rather hang out at a gay bar. The music is better usually, the entertainment is usually better, usually better atmospheres, and more thought is usually put into it's interior design.
10 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoGLBT's: do you find straight people to be a bit bland and boring?
I'll be honest. I do. Most of my straight friends have kind of rigid, dull, boring lives. I just want to grab them and run with them and tell them to live a little . Throw a little caution to the wind once in awhile. Let your hair down. Be natural, be REAL.
I also notice that I don't have a lot to talk about with them, because our lives are so different. They're all tied down with a spouse, and kids, and a mortgage and all that. I don't. But, as much as they think I'm "missing out", I don't feel that way. I feel like they think they must conform to a society where it's expected to follow in the footsteps of others. Me, I'm a free spirit and I love it.
Anyone else's thoughts?
