I am currently the the President of a local group.

Our focus is on social events and excludes politics.

We welcome gay newcomers to town.

    We help singles find partners.

Our members host social events as an alternative to the bars, the organization helps with party supplies.

We give annual scholarships to local gay students in need.

We support, fundraise, and work with our local PFLAG and GLBT community center and most of the other GLBT organizations in town.

    We attempt to be multi-generational.

    Our events are diverse.

We have had hiking groups, museum trips, a science group, book clubs, gourmet clubs, game nights, movie nights, encounter groups, gay coffeehouse night, group vacation trips, theatre nights, talent shows, a yearly auction night, pool parties, tubing trips, Oscar parties, smoker-poker, casino trips, volleyball team, Pride events, communnity volunteer events such as on-air fundraising for our local PBS TV station, and we sponsor GLBT films at the local art house.

We are governed by a six member steering committee and a President. We publish a monthly newsletter, business page, website, and calendar for members to promote their events and find out about things to do. All of the work is done by volunteers, and we survive on annual membership dues. E-mail me if you have a question or want to join in.

I'm a co-President of my HS's GSA and Founder and President of a newer group called QY?

GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) is centered more on the education of straight allies as well as an outreach for teens who are struggling with their own sexual identity.

QY (Queer Youth) is a group i created as a sort of branch from the original GSA. It's a bit like a GSA minus the "S". It was founded after I and some of my fellow queer students realized that our school's GSA had become mostly straight students. We serve as a sort of peer rap group with the objective of being able to talk openly about our experiences and struggles as queer youth.

Both celebrate world aids day, Matthew Shepherd day, and the day of silence as well as varied other community service centered events.

Not 'led', but I am a member of my local Police LGBT liaison. We advise the Police on how to handle LGBT issues and hate crimes, and try to reduce the mistrust that seems to exist between LGBT folk and the Police force.

And because of my particular circumstances, I also advise the Police on transsexual matters.
