Christians: What other Christian churches honor the Bible Sabbath besides Seventh-day Adventists?

Sabbath (Saturday)is the true day of worship. It is the Seventh-day of the week. God commanded in Exodus 20:8-11 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy". How many other Christian churches have made the switch to proper Sabbath observance as it relates to the Bible?

Do you know of any churches in your city that keep the Sabbath?

Update:

Hi Full Gospel Shirley. Thanks for your response. I would hope that you would prayerfully and thoughtfully reconsider those eternal truths that you learned from Seventh-day Adventist. Their are tens of thousands of people around the world accepting and returning to the Sabbath message. It's time to come out of darkness and false doctrines that are not rooted in God's word but rather upheld by the traditions of mis-guided men. Note: John 12:35.

Some of the other people really got the wrong idea about Sabbath...is a Hebrew word in itself meaning to rest. Shabbot as it would be spelled otherwise, in over 100 languages means the seventh day of the week. The Chinese translate the word to mean "Peaceful Rest Day". Leap Year does not affect the days of the week, merely the days of the year...as one individual might like to make us believe.

So many people believe the lie that God's Laws were hung on the cross...but since God does not change, why would His Law? Jesus asked us to keep His commandments as a way of showing our love for Him. Keeping the Sabbath on the Seventh-day of the week was important enough for Christ to keep, so why wouldn't those who follow Christ want to live accordingly? The Sabbath was made for mankind, to remember God's Creation and to commune with Him; to have a holy rest from the mundane work of day to day.

Remember, the seventh day of the week was set aside as the very first holy day (holiday) by God. It was ordained for our first two parents to keep as a holy rest day. Those people called the Jews, some couple of thousand years later needed a reminder after so many years in captivity by the pagan Egyptians.

The Egyptians called their sun god Ra...the Romans called him Apollo...then when the Beast raised its heads, the sun god took on the name of the Son of God, to turn people from the truth. I learned that much just from my humanities class in a public college...the statues built by the non-Christian Romans changed just a little, and the names were changed to make them sound Christian. They were exactly the same pantheistic gods, but were called saints.

Saturday is not the day of Saturn in the other European languages, it's called Sabado in Spanish--look it up.

. But, did you know that the command at Exodus 20:8-11 was given only to the Jews? You are correct in saying that it was to be observed on Saturday. The Sabbath was a day of rest and worshiping of God. It was to make the Jews rest from all their labor and not be working for material gain all week long. The covenant God made with Moses and the Jews were done to set them apart from the surrounding nations. The laws God gave Moses were different than what the other nations believed. These Jews had a special arrangement with their creator. This special arrangement was between God and the nation of Israel. But, as you read the OT you see where the Israelites, for the most part, were not obedient to God. They were making a mockery of God and his laws. When Jesus came, he also observed the Mosaic laws. But the Jews condemned him and ultimately crucified God's only begotten son. The night before Jesus died, he set up a new covenant with the Apostles that included anyone who would be obedient even if they were not Israelites. Jesus' death was an end to the Mosaic law and those laws were replaced by two. To lo

There are several churches that keep the Sabbath, and several that only go to church on the Sabbath, but do not keep it Holy as was commanded in the Garden of Eden.

My friends attend a church called the Trinity Alliance, who do go to church on Saturday, however it is like any other day to them before and after church. We know from SDA history that the Seventh-day Baptists were the ones who taught the Seventh-day Adventists about the Sabbath, before that time, there were First-day Adventists, also called Millerites. It is a good thing to see when a whole group decides to accept truth and move forward with it, instead of being stuck behind traditions which are detestable to God.

In my town, there is another Sabbath keeping group, a guy called Lone Ranger on here is a member in his own town. It's one of the Churches of God.

I understand in Missouri there are a number of RLDS who have discovered the Sabbath also. Their numbers are few however.

According to prophecy, when the Righteous are called from Babylon, they will adhere to the truth as the Holy Spirit calls them, and leave the traditions of man, and the Mark of the Beast.

Messianic Christians do- not many others do.

A serious question for you though- do Seventh day adventists:

    eat pork?

celebrate Christmas and Easter or the God ordained feasts

    of the Bible?

Just curious, there are no Messianic churches around here but I don't know much about 7th day adventists except they worship on Saturday (not that I think it matters what day you choose to congregate and worship as longas you are observing the Saturday, Sabbath day of rest) I am curious, however, whether or not this is a church that truly seeks to obey God's commands or only a few and as with many other churches, forsake God's law for the laws oftheir own making.

I do not go to a church that keeps Sabbath because, as I said there are none close by- a 7th day adventist church is in reasonable distance. I do however try to observe Sabbath with my family at home. We cook and clean Friday duringthe day- Friday night we read and Saturday we do not shop, or plan things that will interfere with focusing on the Lord and resting our minds and bodies in preparation for the week ahead.

I know they have Seventh-day Baptists and back East there was a Church of Christ that became convinced on the Sabbath and they are called Seventh-day Church of Christ. I know it is prophesied that there will be many coming out of different groups who choose to keep the commandments of God rather than the traditions of men. Interesting huh. Mmm

They have a verse here and there to back up their belief that the Sabbath is no longer to be kept and the those who keep the Sabbath have the whole Bible backing them up.

Jews and Seventh Day Baptist are two big ones that keep Sabbath. There is a Seventh Day Baptist church in a town near me.

There are quite a number of "splinter" churches from the old Worldwide COG -- hundreds; most of them claiming to be the one true church, and their proof of it being their adherence to the sabbath...

There are also Seventh day Baptists.

Seems there are quite a number of organizations that can't comprehend what Scripture plainly states; that the Sabbath was given to Israel for a sign between them and God.

In many cultures Sunday is actually the seventh day. The important thing is where the commandment comes from. Many people believe that the commandments are not LAWS but actually moral guidelines for living a healthy and fulfilling life. Sabbath actually comes from a Hebrew term "Shevat" which means "to cease". So one could argue that keeping a day per week to rest and reflect, no matter what the weekday, you are keeping the sabbath. Besides, the current Judeo-Christian calendar was not the one being used at the time of the commandments. The days of the week that we use are actually from "pagan" worship rituals, for instance, Thursday is actually a derivative of Thor's day.

It is important to see past the word of the prophets to what they meant, as the words are subject to translation and misinterpretation.

Right on about the Sabbath, Gilbert.

The only other group I've known about that keeps Sabbath is the Seventh-day Baptists. I met one gentleman overseas and he came to our SDA worship services often.

Try going on line type in ' truth or tradition'.

U are right Saturday is the day the Lord chose to rest on.

But I think we as a church have fallen into following the pagan Sun day worship and it has become tradition.

Like many things it came from pagan worship when we wanted to get more people into the buildings.

Christ said He did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.

He also said not one jot or tiddler would change.

Although we as gentiles were never under the law, we still should not follow pagan traditions.
