Laundry quandary ... where should I start?

After two weeks with broken washing machine, new one was delivered today. I've done a couple of emergency loads at my mom's, but mostly laundry has stacked up: linens from two beds from two bedding changes; towels from two people from two bathrooms; shirts, jeans, etc. I want to get started at 6:00 am; I am home all day; which load should I do first?

I would start with the items that are shortest in the dryer; and pace those loads with your other work so that you can stop everything and tend to the completed dry cycle (putting things on hangers right away, etc.) Personally, I like to have the whites with all the smaller pieces, socks, etc., finish right after I finish for the evening in the kitchen. Then I have a basket full of warm laundry to soothe my arthritic hands while I watch the evening news.

I put the ones that don't take as long to dry in first, and do jeans and towels last. When our washer broke, I took all the laundry to a laundry mat and did all the laundry at once...got it over with faster.

If you have kids, do their loads first. Next do jeans/darks. Next wash shirts, then lights, then whites. Do towels/sheets in between clothes loads to break the folding monotony. We have 7 people so what you describe is my every day. Don't fret!

I would start with your clothes cause you'll probably need them first then go to the towels and lastly do the sheets.
