What nutritional value does corn have?

A lot of it goes right through the digestive system. Does it have much nutritional value?

The "germ" of the corn is the most nutritious. This is found in the area where the corn kernal meets the cob. It contains 80% of the essential amino acids we need for good nutrition. Unfortunately, the processing of corn (canned and frozen, for example) often omits the germ section. Ever open a can of corn and see tiny bits of germ floating around in the processing fluid?

It's best to eat it off the cob. And for myself, personally, I have noticeds that It digests better that way, also, for myself personally.

Corn consists of cellulose. Your body is not able to break this material down, therefore it passes right thru you. Corn is high in carbohydrates, however it does contain fiber. Relatively speaking it's a good food choice as long as you do not coat it in butter!

If you eat it with beans corn offers complete proteins (equivalent to eating animal meats, without the fat).
