I am 72 and yes I like to go to the moves, my son and his wife like to take me to the Imax. We saw the under the ocean movie in 3D and it really felt like I was in the movie, there were jelly fish swimming right in front of me, I kept having the feeling that they were going to bump into my nose.
I like going camping too, I have been to almost every state park in WVa. My favorite is Holly River, and although I am unable to run up Potatoe Knob now, I still hike all the trails. I try to get out of the house everyday, and twice a week I walk 15 blocks, turn around and walk back 15 more, good exercise. I like to quilt, peice quilts, and I do it the old fasioned way, not on a machine. I have a flower garden and pictures of it have been on the local tv. I love to cook and now that I am retired, I can really indulge myself. I walk to our farmers market and pick up fresh vegetables. I bake my pies and cakes from scratch, not a box. And of course I like to get on the computer. There is so much to learn. And dear if you keep on learning, you will stay young. I read, I read a lot, I just finished, "The Memory Keeper's Daughter", And I picked up a first Edition of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" , I read it when it first came out, and it was nice to read it again. Like visiting an old friend. I find much of television boring, But I watched the Soprano's, and I am watching, "Tell Me You Love Me", on HBO, The Meerkats, are kind of cute too, But you know, I wonder how they caught Rocket Dog, to put the collar on her. I Felt sorry for Flower, when she died.
I am lucky, I am in good health, and you know it kind of surprises me, when I pass a mirror and see myself, for I do not think of myself as 72. And I have a bodacious red hat to go with my purple shirt and shoes. Hope this helps.

No. For primarily two reasons: (1) there are rarely any movies worth seeing. The incredible garbage that's being passed off as entertainment, is an affront not only to the senses, but the intellect as well.
Most are so loud, they blast you out of your seat; and many are downright hedonistic, fit only for those who are high on some kind of mood altering drug. They are not only a terrible waste of time, but leave one with a very horribly pungent taste in the mouth.
(2) the expense. The prices are beyond belief for what you get. The concession prices are inflated easily 50-100% as opposed to what you would pay at a non-movie vendor.
Trust that will be enough details.

My young friend, I don't attend movies for a variety of reasons. The surround sound used in theaters can drive a senior with hearing problems out of his mind. The junk food at the snack bar doesn't fit into a senior diet. Bifocals and the big screen don't mix well. If I take the glasses off the screen is blurry from my cataracts. I get lost when I go to the bathroom. What more can I say?

Think of what you like to do....and that's what we like to do. You don't suddenly turn into someone else when you get older, my friend.
When young, I liked to read, go out with friends, and, yes, I went to the movies a lot. I still like all of those things.
Movies are a specially good part of my life. We like foreign language and alternative films, so we frequent the two local art-house movie theatres. Its amazing what a variety of entertainment you can find there. We go about once a week. Instead of popcorn, we get to take a glass of wine and a plate of cheese with us - how civilised is that !!
We go out to dinner about once a week, and since we are now unencumbered by children's needs, we can let our hair down and enjoy the best restaurants, and do a little dancing afterwards.
Its a pretty nice life these days. More free time. I read the classics, and have the time to savour and appreciate them. And I'm pretty techno-savvy, so can appreciate the improvements in communication that technology has brought us.
Good luck with your studies !

No, I never have liked movies. When my kids were little, we'd rent them sometimes, but I hate going. The last one I went to the theater for was Nell. I don't go because: Most movies aren't worth the bother, I hate having to get up to check the plumbing in the middle of it and try to find my way back in the dark, I don't like having to sit quietly through the exciting parts, for the same price or less as one theater ticket we can get a whole car full in at the drive-in and have a blast as well, I like popcorn that isn't highway robbery.

I'm not a moviegoer. I like the old black-and-white movies that are shown on some TV channels late at night.
I also enjoy some of the current TV shows, but not the "reality" shows, which, in all reality, have no resemblance to reality.
In addition to frequently attending a variety of local theater productions, my husband and I bowl duckpins three nights a week from fall through spring, and twice a week during the summer.
We have season tickets to four of the theater companies' productions.

I do not go to the movies; they're just not that good anymore. I liked movies that were entertaining. Now they're making statements. That doesn't go well with popcorn. So...what do I LIKE to do? Go fishing, camping, hiking, sleep under the stars after an evening around the campfire. I like going to the zoo, romping in the grass with my grandkids, and going to the shooting range.
What CAN I do? Well, I can hobble to the kitchen on my walker and fix a sandwich. I can sit down to run my sweeper. I can ride my power chair outside the apartment complex to feel the fresh air, and I can still use my hands well enough to crochet on a good day.

Go to rock gigs in the mosh pit. Yes I am serious! As far as going to the movies is concerned, I would sooner wait until it comes out on DVD as you have to sit still too long and can't get up to do anything as you will miss something. I think I have a low boredom threshold. But that is if there is any movie worth watching, as they are very rare. I also scuba dive, go to the gym, and have two very different jobs. I also love to travel and have just got back from NY (I am in London) and am off to Brussels in a couple of weeks. I hope that helps.

I like to read, walk, ride my bicycle, and spend time with my family and pets. I also spend a lot of time on this computer cleaning up old family photographs, creating videos, anything I can figure out how to do with this machine, which is a lot.
I occasionally buy a video and have upon occasion downloaded some by torrent and burnt them to DVD. I seldom go to a movie unless I am visiting my niece who likes to go to movies and doesn't have anyone to go with her.
Far as I am concerned, movies nowadays are too expensivie for what you get, but when someone else is gladly paying - what the heck!

They like to read, garden, walk/hike, travel, do projects, dance, exercise, sports, work or volunteer, etc. Seniors like to do the same things for entertainment that people of any age like, it depends on the individual.
As for movies, many seniors like to go. They like letting lost in the story on the movie screen. They like movies from comedy or drama to mystery or scary movies and a good romance suits some people. It's good to get out of the house, to spend time with friends or a special person in their lives. The snacks are good too.
