day 4 of not smoking and i'm freaking out ~HELP?
having a really hard time dealing with it tonight more than any other time so far. i was treated really bad today by someone i love a lot. it's hard for me to get over it right now since the hurt is so fresh. we live together so that makes it even harder. and for the kicker i get ignored all night and an empty bed.
just feeling overwhelmed as i sit here with my two marlboros in front of me wondering what i will do. i know it's my choice which is pissing me off right now too. i can't even seem to reason with myself. not one cigarette or drag in four whole days. what is my problem?? smoked for 15 yrs now, i'm only 30, want to be healthy and set good examples for my kids. how can something so small have such a big hold on me??
hoping to hear something that will trigger some sense back into me. please help with any stories or any experiences that would be helpful right now. thanks : o (

oh yeah and i'm on patches. i agree they help tremendously, but i'm so god damn stubborn i piss myself off. hehe

I know what you are going through. I am on day 5. My husband who is only 30 years old was diagnosed with Empysema because of his smoking habit. The doctor told him that if he doesn't stop smoking he will be on an oxygen tank by the time he is 40. The doctor also said that the #1 cause of empysema is smoking. They can find it on your x-rays... the begginging stages. You may have it and not even know.. Don't smoke... I know it's hard.. I am 25 yrs. old and smoked since I was 15. I stopped smoking not only for my husband and my children but for myself as well. Smoking has made me develop asthma. I take Albuterol breathing treatments everyday now. Anyone can develop asthma at any point in time. Smoking is one of those things that can make a person develop it.
I know it's not fun... Ohhhh how I would love to be sitting outside with an ice cold pepsi and a Marlboro light in hand. but... I want to be alive and healthy in 10 years... I don't want my kids to have ear infections all the time and develop asthma and stay sick. You HAVE to not touch the cancer stick cigarette. This is for your health and for your children and family.
The tobacco industry are putting very strong additives in the tobacco, tehy are doing a study on it now. Also if you smoke 1 pack a day for 1 year you have a FULL quart of TAR inside of your lungs! I was just taught that at our Smoking classes.
Call your local Health Department and ask if they have any quit smoking classes. My husband and I are in a 12 week class. They provide the patches for free. We are wearing the 23 mg. patches now, in 5 weeks will go to the 14mg then the 7. We also go to meetings once a week. The patches really DO help! They help fight that horrible nicoteine craving!

Flush those cigarettes, they dont make any problems go away.
Drink water from a water bottle whenever you get a craving and realize cravings only last 2 minutes tops.
If you are really struggling, use nicotine patch or gum. You dont have to suffer cold turkey style.

I understand how you are feeling right now but be strong and don't smoke. I looked up on the net for a government smoking study and found one, but i live in Canada . they pay for the patch or gum or inhaler for 5 weeks maybe there is one going on there give it a try. call your health department ,ask them if any study is on in your area. mine was under www.stopstudy.ca even try emailing this study to see if they know of any. hope this helps

sorry but I do not have a story only offering support, you have made it this far do not give up, if you can get through the night, then next time something like this happens, you will know that you can make it with out!! don't give up, i will smoke one for you if it would help!

really really well done. i gave up cold turkey 8 weeks ago also smoked about 30 a day for the past decade. distract yourself go for a walk catch up and have a ***** session with a mate call the quit line for someone to help you through this. bummer if you give in but hey you can always start the process of giving up again tomorrow. good luck to you hope you can stay strong

Drink Milk.....It takes away the taste for a cigg..I know this I quit 4 months ago....I will always have the urge to smoke because the smell of cigs. does not appal me. I actually embrace it when I smell it, but then I remind myself how far I have come....and how much better I feel inside my body. And how hard it was to go cold turkey for 2 weeks.!
