New home with Gas fire place?

I tried to turn on the gas to the fireplace last night it lit the fake logs up but there was a high pitched whining sound emantaing from the pipe. turned it off immediately thought it might be a gas leak. We bought the home this summer and turned it on with the inspector It didn't make the noise at that time. Wondering if it could be the colder weather (Mid 40s)

Update:

It is natural gas

colder weather will amke the pipes whistles but it will go away. also check the line for air and the couplings to see that they are tightly secured if al else fails have the local gas company come out and check it. If you dont know waht youre doing that's probably best. Get it warranteed and know whether or not you have butane or propane.
