Which genre would be more interesting for the public??

After many years of putting it off, I have finally decided that now is the time to work on my book. The question I have is this: Which genre would attract the larger audience??

1)Historical Fiction--(American Civil War era) or

2)Horror

Thanks,

M

I would go with historical fiction rather than horror. The author Anne Rice, and the movies National Treasure & The Mummy prove that this can work really well, I think.

What about a combination? Horror set during the American Civil War? Probably in some ways Horror would go over better with the larger audience then than Historical Ficiton, but I tend to like both, so I am probably not the best judge.

I usually try and go for gothic fiction.

I would rather read Historical Fiction than Horror but if there are too many facts in the hist fiction then I would switch to horror!

It really depends on people's tastes
