I'm looking for a nice but inexpensive gift for my Pre-K students.?
I am on a budget because it is my first year teaching, and I have 4 children of my own. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want my students to know how much I care for them and how much I want to make this a special Christmas, and I regret that I don't have a lot of money to spend on them.

My mother is a pre-K teacher and manages to spend less than $1 per kid each year. One of my favorite gift ideas of hers is to buy a huge box of crayons, and separate them into groups of three (making sure each kid gets at least 1 or 2 "good" colors--spread around the black and brown and grey.) She wraps the crayons in ribbon. You can find Christmas-themed coloring pages online. Print them out, make several copies, and staple them together to make your own coloring book.
Other idea: Oriental Trading has lots of stickers, toys, pencils, etc. for not a lot of money. Pick out a few items and make goody bags. (They also sell goody bags!)

I wouldn't give out candy or bake for them. There's so much concern regarding allergies that way; you wouldn't want to open up your school to trouble.

Why not get each of them an ornament? You can get them at Walmart, Target, or any other store. Also, Oriental Trading sells sets of ornaments for reasonable prices. Another thing you could give them is a book. See if you can find some books that are inexpensive. Sometimes Walmart or Target has little Christmas books for around $1.00 each! Remember its not the money that counts- its the thought. You could even write them each a special little note to go along with their gift and mention something specific about why they are special to you!

Remember to save your recipts from the gifts you buy your students. You can claim them on your taxes. I would get them things that you can use in the class room, crayons saftely siccors, and biginners writting tablets. check out teaching websites for christmas printables that you can print out for your students. Make them a stocking or buy some at the dollar store and write there names in glitter. Fill them with those things. Have fun with it and good Luck, and Merry christmas from a pre-k mom!

Make goody bags. Fill them with little toys from target or the doller store, and candy. Or bake them all cookies or something.

I remember when I was in pre-K classes my teacher gave me an ornament with my name on it in glitter. The ornament was really cheap but I didn't realize that. I loved it. It was just like a $1 cloth ornament and she had taken glitter and written my name on it. I loved it!!!!!!!!!!

Some good ideas here. As the parent of Pre-K kids, I'll have to agree with the idea of coloring books and crayons, and stickers. All are welcome and not very expensive.
