I have a member of my household who repeatedly checks out porn sites on our computer?
I have threatened to disable the computer when I am not around-we have had malicious viruses because of this. I have talked to him over and over about how viruses can destroy your computer, but he chooses to ignore the threats. Luckily our anti-virus protection takes care of these. However, I would like to somehow, lock him out of the computer when I am not home. We have 3 user screens on the computer...his, mine and the main. What do I have to do to accomplish this? Part of the computer components were a gift from my brother, and the rest was, either purchased by me, or given to me by close friends. I do not want him to ruin the computer by his carelessness and ignorance! Please Help!!!

Simply activate Parental Control in your browser or Install Net Nanny on your computer. These provide you with an option of password protecting the illegal content that the member is viewing. You are also advised to instal Mcafee's Site Advisor which marks dangerous sites with a red flag. This might scare the member and would avoid viewing those websites.

Whomever is the main user screen can put a password protection on the computer. Only people with access to the computer can then turn it on. Also if the person that is using the computer is just a roommate or friend then I would suggest you tell him that he will have to start paying for anti virus protection at such and such a price per month because of his continued use of the computer in this way.

go on the parent and use parental control settings to block those sites. You could also create a password for the computer that only you know but you will have keep checking to make sure because it is quite possible to slip through both of these protections.

To those who dislike porn, and I agree that it is unreal and even unhealthy at times, there is a growing trend of content that is doesn't fit the definition of "porn" at all. The comments suggesting to turning off search engine filters are correct. To locate what I am referring to, adding keywords such as "sensual", "love making", and "erotic" can return some specific productions companies with very high content standards. They are produced by women, perhaps, and in any case there is no ******* at all. Instead, couples that are not porn actors, genuinely enjoying mutual fulfillment each other's desires. Not at all some hastily shot "home videos", but couples that are clearly connecting on a healthy emotional level. Not ironically, the content, in its genuine nature, is far more arousing (aka "hot") than ANY porn actors attempting to physically force/fake pleasure! Nubile Films, Passion HD, and similar channels.

I believe in Windows Vista you are able to set parental controls that limit a user's use of the computer at specified times.
This can be found in the Control Panel.
I'm unsure about Windows XP.

There is lots of software that is available that will block certain sites. This software can be run with a password and can not be disabled under most circumstances.
Check out this website that lists a few of them: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/software/parenta...

Remove his profile or configure your anti-virus program, if it has parental controls, to prevent adult sites from being accessed - you can also purchase something like Net-Nanny for about $20 which will stop him

why let this person on. they can buy their own computer.
by all means password protect and disable their use.
get a good security suite like norton, ca, or check point. configure it for your use only.

I would suggest that he gets his own puter.
He should be aware that people do go to jail for certain porn activities, and the authorities will confiscate the puter as evidences to prove their case in court.
Not good at all..

if you have windows xp, go to control panel, user accounts, on the bottom it says pick an account to change, change his password or delete his account. Then set passwords for your other accounts so he cant use them.
