  • This is not so much a question as it is info about harmful things for your dogs?

The following is a link to a couple of articles as to what is harmful to your dog's health, such as chocolate, gum, rat poisons, etc. There always seems to be denial with the harmfulness of chocolate to dogs. It absolutely is toxic and anyone who doesn't think so is doing your dog more harm than good by giving it to them. Chewing gum is also harmful...this is a newer revelation. It is only certain kinds with certain ingredients in it. Please take care when giving your animals "treats". Your "kindness" may be killing them instead.

  • I have a friend in a highly abusive marriage who is scared for herself and her children and I want to help?

She has been abused physically, emotionally, and mentally and it gets worse every day. She has two learning disabled children who she will not abandon. She has a controlling 82 year old mother who sides with her husband. This is a very difficult and complex situation, and I am looking for suggestions from, lawyers, social workers or anyone within the law who might have specific and legitimate suggestions as to organizations or individuals who can help her. She has gone to the local police and all they have said is to "stop drinking it is her fault". She has stopped drinking so she can get stronger and get out, but is scared and feels hopeless. She is a good person and I want to help in some way. Please do not waste my time or hers with unimportant information or ignorant answers. She lives in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area. This is a very complicated situation and there is alot more to it than I can write about. Thank you for your answers.

  • This question is for menopausal women only, please?

It has been almost 2 years since my last period, I am 53. I have frequent hot flashes and night sweats. I am always so uncomfortable and embarassed by the hot flashes at work. Other than hormone therapy, which I would rather stay away from, has anyone had any favorable experience with any holistic remedies or herbs, or anything that has helped them? Cancer runs high in my family, so I would like to stay away from estrogen, etc. My hair is also thinning and I would like to find something that might help that also. I haven't spoken to my doctor about menopause, yet, especially since they so recommend hormone replacement therapy. Any advice or answers will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Has anyone who drinks diet pop quit drinking it and noticed a change for the better in their health?

I have been reading up on the health risks of aspartame, which is used in diet sodas in place of sugar. There seem to be numerous long-term health symptoms and illnesses due to aspartame comsumption. I have read that aspartame metabolizes into formaldahyde and methane in your body and can cause so many different ailments. Has anyone ever stoped drinking diet pop and improved heath-wise?? The reason I am asking this is that we drink diet Coke and have for years, and don't really want to stop it, if this is just all hype. We don't really like regular pop because it is just too sweet. Thanx for any answers.

  • What do you all out there think of Drew Carey as a host on The Price is Right?

I am from the Cleveland area, as is Drew Carey, and while I think it's great that another Clevelander makes it big, I think he is a terrible choice for the host of the longest and most popular game show in history. Personally, I think he is annoying the way he repeats himself over and over and over...ie> welcome to the show..welcome to the show..welcome to the show. Bob's replacement should have been someone who is more suave, debonaire, and sophisticated. Drew is none of those. Does anyone wonder how, with all the choices in hollywood how they came up with Drew Carey?? I think John O'Hurley would have been an excellent choice. There are so many others out there to choose from. I used to watch it every day, now I catch it maybe, once a week. What do you guys think??

  • I have a member of my household who repeatedly checks out porn sites on our computer?

I have threatened to disable the computer when I am not around-we have had malicious viruses because of this. I have talked to him over and over about how viruses can destroy your computer, but he chooses to ignore the threats. Luckily our anti-virus protection takes care of these. However, I would like to somehow, lock him out of the computer when I am not home. We have 3 user screens on the computer...his, mine and the main. What do I have to do to accomplish this? Part of the computer components were a gift from my brother, and the rest was, either purchased by me, or given to me by close friends. I do not want him to ruin the computer by his carelessness and ignorance! Please Help!!!

  • This question is for knowledgeable gardeners out there.?

I just bought a Burning Bush. I live in zone 5. Is there anything I should add to the soil since I am planting a little late in the season, to assure it makes it thru the winter. How deep do I plant the root ball? Is it like most plants/shrubs where you leave the top of the root ball slightly above the soil, or should it be a little deeper? Thank you.

  • This question is for people with Java and a virus?

Has anyone had any problems with Java and a virus of some sort in the Java update? It pops up as Error Correct, and looks like it is from Internet Explorer and wants to install itself to correct errors. I cannot seem to get rid of it. I uninstalled Java and re-installed Java, hoping it would go away, but it keeps popping up in various forms. I am stumped as to how to get rid of it. I googled "error correct", and had my brother who is pretty computer savy look at it, and he is stumped as to how to get rid of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I will be playing "Poppit" and it just pops up and takes over. Even when you click close , the window opens wanting to install the "error protect". Thank you.

  • Can you "dye" or paint carpeting?

We have buff-colored carpeting in our bedroom which is only 5 years old. It is really too light for my taste. It shows dirt too much and stains easily. I have a steam cleaner and clean it frequently, but it never really brightens up, so I thought of somehow dyeing it. Does anyone know how to do this or even if you can? Thanks in advance for any creative answers.

  • Painful feet?

I work in retail in a huge Home Improvement store with concrete floors. I am a head cashier, consequently I am constantly running around like a chicken with my head cut off. By the end of the day, my feet hurt so bad that I can hardly walk. I have tried numerous brands of tennis shoes with cushioned soles, but still my heels hurt, and I get water blisters on the bottom of my toes which are excrutiatingly painful. I am at a loss as to what to to. I thought of maybe buying a pair of tennis shoes that are a half size larger than what I wear, and buy gel insoles. I hate to keep buying shoes all the time. Anyone have any suggestions? If there are any Podiatrists out there, your advice will be especially welcome. Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer this.

  • Gallstones??

In the past three weeks, I have had two pretty painful attacks that I am suspecting is due to gallstones (undiagnosed). I have come to this conclusion due to an article I found from the Pennsylvania Institute of Medicine, that describes the pain I experienced to a tee. My question is this, and yes I intend to go to a doctor for a diagnosis, but has anyone out there experienced this, and found a homeopathic remedy for gallstones, that worked?? I dread having surgery, and do not want to have to miss any work, if avoidable. Thankyou. Any advice will be appreciated.

  • We lost our Shih-Tzu, GiGi, this morning.?

She was 13, and developed respiratory distress, from unknown causes. We have no children ,and our animals are our babies. GiGi was our "first-born". Our grief was overwhelming, and a turnip would have given us more compassion than the vet's office did. No sooner did the assistant take GiGi in the back room, than the other assistant was sticking her head in the room and telling us how much we owe them. I do realize it's a business to them, but to the grieving owners, a little compassion goes a long way. I feel like someone has kicked me in the stomach, and all they wanted is their money. When did people lose their compassion is what I want to know? This was the single hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life, I am 52, and, a part of me died today with her. And all they wanted was their money and their room back for the next client.

  • I recently bought a used computer and would like to clean the keyboard.?

The keys seem kind of tacky. What would be a good thing to use on the keyboard to clean it off? I thought of rubbing alcohol, but I wasn't sure if it would be good for the equipment.

  • I have a 6 year-old female Lhasa-Aspo/Shih-tzu mix who is spayed.?

We just acquired her a month ago, she is spayed & in great health. However, she crawls on top of our female toy poodle, and one of our male cats, and humps them. I keep telling her that "nice girls don't so that", but she just looks at me with her huge eyes and continues to do it. Not that it's harmful, but I would rather she didn't do it. Has anyone else ever encountered this, and what, if anything did you do? No idiotic answers.
