Has anyone who drinks diet pop quit drinking it and noticed a change for the better in their health?

I have been reading up on the health risks of aspartame, which is used in diet sodas in place of sugar. There seem to be numerous long-term health symptoms and illnesses due to aspartame comsumption. I have read that aspartame metabolizes into formaldahyde and methane in your body and can cause so many different ailments. Has anyone ever stoped drinking diet pop and improved heath-wise?? The reason I am asking this is that we drink diet Coke and have for years, and don't really want to stop it, if this is just all hype. We don't really like regular pop because it is just too sweet. Thanx for any answers.

I've been drinkig diet for years as well, but I don't see any bad side affects as of yet .. For a couple of weeks at the beginning of the year, I decided to give up the diet and go for the regular soda .. I ended up putting on a lot of the weight that I'd just lost. I don't drink a lot of pop, but it was enough to notice the weight.

Actually, Diet is worse for you than actual soda (not that reg soda is good for you either!). The reason is this: the only difference between reg and diet soda is diet has artificial sugars. Your body does not know how to process or digest artificial things. In fact, there have been studies that show more obese people drink diet sodas. If you are interested in losing weight or staying fit--stay AWAY from energy drinks and sodas.
