What's the best way to deal with a micromanager?
My new boss, and I use the term loosely, will not keep her hands off of my stuff. Everytime she stands at my desk to tell me something, she ask to pick up a piece of paper I have sitting in my inbox and look at it, ask me what something means I have written on a post-it note, flip my calendar around to face her so she can read it better. Before she became "the acting supervisor" she used to stand behind and read websites and my email over my shoulder. It is getting on my last nerve.

Every time she comes over you tell her " you will call her if you need help". tell her that" talking to her is keeping you from getting your work done". Tell her that she makes you nervous by standing over you (not on your last nerve). tale a deep breath and good luck!

I went through a similar situation for several years, whereby my boss had to be in everyone's face at all times, untrusting of everything, made wrong decisions, never allowing for group discussions, got involved in things that had nothing to do with him, even blamed his help for things they knew nothing about, then finally early this year, the place went out of business. Wonder why?
Advice: Get the hell out now before you find yourself on the street with no advance warning.

Ask her why she is not doing her own job? She should be sitting in her office and doing her own job, instead of wasting time talking with the team. And also tell her that while you are having to talk to her - BOTH of you are not working.
If you have a deadline, tell her that you do not have time to chat, because you have a deadline to meet.
