Earplugs when sleeping?
I sleep with ear plugs on because of the noise from outside. Is this okay for my ears, or is this a dangerous practice for my eardrums? Thanks a lot.

Its actually safer for your eardrums as long as you are using plugs sthat fit properly and you dont stuff them in too far. Also, be sure to throw old plugs away or sanitize them every other week

I've tried a blackout mask to sleep during the day because I often work a night shift in a trauma hospital. I couldn't stand the elastic band. I've also tried earplugs because my companion sometimes snores. Those nights I'm on the couch- can't win them all I guess.

I (and my son) are often tempted to do this as well, however, I resist. Not because of possible damage to my eardrums, but rather the idea that if one was sleeping heavily, they might not hear something they really should (like a fire alarm or an intruder). I don't think it's dangerous to your eardrums (unless you tend to overproduce earwax), and I agree that you should discard or sterilize them often. :-)

You could call a doctor and make sure but I thin it is okay but you still might want ot check with a doctor! good luck.
