Cat food....?

Why are there no mouse flavored cat foods? And, for that matter, why are there no cat flavored dog foods? Or rabbit. You know, the kind of flavors a pet would find in the wild.....

Update:

Wow..... didn't know there was rabbits for my cats..... I don't think I'd want to get them started on it. I started my toy chihuahua on Ceasar's and that's the only kind she eats..... spoiled little bugger.

Yes, there would be a market for mice but I think there's enough wild ones to last a while. We kill them off anyway. Black market mice......

Update 2:

I am soooooooo ill informed. I need get out and research this stuff more. I guess I'm just being lazy by buying the stuff in the bag.....

There is rabbit for cats. At least in the UK. Here in US perhaps horse would be frowned upon. But hey you've just made an excellent point.Let's take it a step further. I think most people would not be so grossed out with intensive mouse raising facilities if the mice were to be live pet food, rather than exploited for cosmetic research? Loads of folks hit the big box pet box stores for worms, grubs, crickets, mice and possibly rats for their reptiles, or fish. Why not expand this niche market to "catchtheirown.com". I can't say that I'd personally condone cats in a pen to choose for your Poodle to chase down and consume on a wet Sunday afternoon, but way hay different strokes for different folks. You've lifted the cover on the filthy underbelly of pet snacks, you devil you. Big cats and the elderly pet pony? The mind boggles.

I was watching T.V. once, about 10-15 years ago, I don't remember what show was, it was about how they make pet food and how they taste test it on different animals.

Anyway they did make a mouse flavor cat food, but the cats did not like it.

    Go figure, LOL

I would first have to wonder "Just what is mouse flavor?". I think the manufacturers could put anything in those cans and call it any kind of flavor because there won't be any humans trying it to see if it really does taste like that. LOL

Because humans are the ones to buy it and they`re grossed out by mouse flavor. Here`s the real question; what does a mouse taste like?

Because cats may like to chase a mouse but they don't want to eat it. That's why they leave it as a present for their owner!

PS. You can get rabbit flavoured tinned cat food.

well, in a way there are rabit and mouse flavored food for cats... if you feed them a raw diet. There are stores you can order frozen chicks, mice, and raw meats you can buy for your cat or dog.

Would YOU want to be the taste-tester for mouse-flavored cat food? I didn't think so.

Good point! Actually, some of that stuff looks better than what comes in cans for humans!!
