Do you find that letting your hair air dry, that you're hair doesn't look as nice as when you blow dry it?

I ask this, because I stopped blow drying my hair, due to time restraints .. and so my hair is aired dried now.. and I find, that my hair doesn't look as nice, as when I dry it in the morning with the blow dryer. It seems to dry in sections or such.. and because of that, I need to brush it out more during the day. I brush it, and it looks fine, and then with in an hour it goes back to the way it was.. hanging in clumps. Does anyone else have this problem?? I like letting it air dry.. I dont' have to worry about split ends, and it gives me a quicker start to the morning.. especially with my baby daughter. But I hate that my hair looks like crap. Is there something I can put in my hair when it's air drying to keep it from drying in clumps?? Or do I just have to go back to blowdrying? If I go back to blow drying.. and tips to avoid split ends, and to blow dry long hair faster?? Any advice is appreciated. =)

Yes, I've found that if I let my hair air dry, it looks flatter than if I blow dry. Can you get up even 5 minutes earlier? It takes me about 5 minutes or less to blow dry my hair. I have medium to long hair. What I do if flip my hair over....I bend over and flip my hair over and blow dry it that way. It seems to dry faster that way than if I stood up straight and dried it while my hair hung down like normal. It really doesn't take that long to blow dry and it looks better. I used to air dry mine all the time, but now, I'd never go back to that.

i know exactly what you mean! I always have to blow dry my hair. One thing that I've found helpful though is letting it air dry for a little while before I blow dry it so its not sopping wet. I just take a shower in the morning before anything else and then leave it in a towel for a little while and brush it out. Then when im dont eating and getting ready and stuff I finish drying it. It doesnt take nearly as long since it already started to dry but it still helps it to look a lot nicer :) Also when you dry it, if you blow dry the under side of your hair first, it will go faster (because its hard to dry the hair on top when the hair under it is keeping it wet!) And if you still dont have time to dry it, I've found that putting mouse in my hair helps a lot for when I just wana let it dry - Herbal Essence has a bunch of good ones depending on your hair type, or you could even just shower at night!

    hope this helps!

i know what you're talking about, and this is coming from someone who has very heavy hair - which is the problem with air drying it. It gets totally flat on top. Also, blow drying it makes hair look smoother and shinier, as long as you are drying it in a downward direction.

What you are saying is totally true.

What I do? Either one of two things. Wash my hair before bedtime, and at night, my hair doesn't dry straight to the floor, it's body is better. OR, I leave my hair up in a towel turban for about half an hour or so, that way, it is a little drier before I let it down.

The opposite has been true for me. Last month, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, and my husband would not bring me a hair dryer, so I had to figure out how to do without. It turned out to be a good thing. I learned how to style it without the artificial heat. My friends really liked it, and so did I! Not to mention that it doesn't damage the hair and requires less effort (and electricity).

I have the exact same problem. Every morning, I wake up early (so i won't be late for school) I apply heat defense to prevent my hair from getting split ends and I start flat ironing it. ( My mommy said I'm a big girl now and I have to start making my own hair :D)

  • my hair looks so much nicer when i don't blow dry it. get your hair trimmed, deep condition it every week. the pantene restorative deep condioner helped my hair so much, after only using it one time. =]
