LDS members... especially RMs?

Have you heard of anyone getting the day they leave on their mission moved up? I wasn't supposed to leave until March, but I talked to my bishop to see if we could get it moved up, and I found out today that I can likely do move it up about 6 weeks. Another person from my ward did the same thing last year. Is this common?

For anyone who isn't LDS or doesn't know much about LDS missions, this is what I am referring to:http://www.mormon.org/mormonorg/eng/basic-beliefs/...

Update:

Mr. Fish, We do have priesthood leaders. We just don't have a paid clergy. That is probably what they were trying to say.

I have heard of it a few times before, especially in situations where family concerns or health concers are at stake. It is usually possible when necessary because of worthiness issues that may keep other missionaries home. Sometimes, if your passport or visa go through quickly enough, its not a big deal either. Whhen I taught in the MTC, I frequently had missionaries whose dates were changed backwards or forwards by a month. (that was when transfers were once a month, not every 6 weeks like now) It's not common, but if it fits with the transfer schedule than it can happen.

  • Mr Fish, we have no paid clergy, we do have Bishops and High Priests and Elders

Our deacons are 12 our Teachers( a priesthood office) are 14 and our Priests are 16 Elders are 18 and up

But the don't get paid by the church everybody has a job somewhere else to support themselves, our current Bishop is a retired Pharmacy Professor

Yes I have heard of it happening before... Many times it has to do with projected school schedules etc. after the mission..

It's not uncommon for departure or return dates to be moved around a bit to accommodate school terms and other things...

When I was a teenager my father was a Bishop... He helped a missionary leaving from the ward get his departure date moved up 3 weeks so his return date would allow him a month to get settled back in before starting a semester at ASU enabling him to keep a scholarship n hold for the 2 years...

properly in all honesty you're in severe college. i have had 4 childrens go by ability of the highschool years, one remains in it and that all of them confronted the very similar issues. i imagine they in basic terms like you, do exactly the perfect you may. i'd not supply those human beings too a lot drama or interest for his or her unexpected replace and habit, which will in basic terms gasoline the disrespect. All you may want to do - all each person can do as a believer, is to "stand as a witness" be a mild and an celebration yet extra importantly shop your existence and self firmly grounded in a own relationship with the Savior. you're dealing with a similar issues that are in basic terms element of residing interior the international. i'd also in basic terms factor out that the note of awareness does no longer factor out caffeine -you already know this perfect? The note of awareness is a wellbeing code which asks that we abstain from espresso, Tea, Tobacco and something it extremely is risky to us and to partake of all issues carefully. i understand many LDS members who drink caffeine. in reality Chocolate has caffeine and as an LDS human being i'm no longer about to end eating chocolate! My 16 twelve months previous daughter lately brought about an uproar in her English class at the same time as the instructor changed into about to positioned on an R RATED movie in her class and she instructed the instructor that she did not watch R RATED videos. So the instructor replaced videos and her class friends did not blink a watch.... yet she nevertheless stood up for what she believed. She also has had class friends grant to PAY HER if she'll swear.... she is an extremely 'good' female and occurs to be the judgment of perfect and incorrect of our loved ones - so as that wasn't a temptation to her! the point is - all of us face it. you at the prompt are not on my own interior the pressures you face in severe college. i'm positive in case you in basic terms press on and stand agency on your faith and are not making their DRAMA an situation, that it will slowly subside and they received't supply it undue interest quickly sufficient. youngsters are that way! Your good acquaintances will stay your good acquaintances or they're going to educate themselves no longer SUCH good acquaintances interior the lengthy haul.
