The whole song is about someone being gone and the singer is missing them badly. I know the song is a different version of a Dave Matthew's band song, but I don't know the name of that song. Thank you in advance!

Actually it's a different version of the song "Every Breath you Take", by The Police.  It is called "I'll Be Missing You", and it's by Puff Daddy.

The above answers are correct. I don't think Dave Mathews covered this song but I could be wrong.

I saw an intterview with Sting where he discussed this song. He says he was surprised that very few people got it. It's not about missing someone you love. It's about a stalker.
