Did Star Wars really happen a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away?

Well to be technical it may have happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away but according to that galaxy's timeline it could be our modern timeline.

I believe in the Force but I am yet to be convinced that George Lucas' Star Wars is true.
