It's definitely good enough for storing photos, music, surfing the net, etc... but playing Guild Wars might not work out in this case. I'm thinking that this laptop is more for educational and business purposes.
So I wouldn't suggest it if you want to play graphics-intensive games like Battlefield 2, WOW, Doom, etc. It's an excellent computer though.

Nope!
Sorry
you have 1GB with VISTA...and its shared Video Ram which means you only truly have 700+MB System Ram.
And @275MB shared video ram .
With Vista I wouldnt chance it unless you could find a good deal on some RAM/
Heres the intangible you might not be able to see.
The installed rAM on that laptop is 1 GB upgradable to 2GB
Chances are, its 512 MB on both Memory slots.
Which means when you want to upgrade that RAM,
youll have to pull out the (2) 512 mb RAM
and insert (2) 1GB sticks,...which can be costly..unless youre getting a good deal on the SODIMMs (laptop Ram)
I dont know the system requirements of the guild wars..but Im almost positive you should go with a better video controller.

P.S. and that person that said no 14 year old should have a laptop.
You need to teach them responsoiblity and its better to use a low end laptop than a $1500 laptop to teach them this.
I dont know how youve raised your kids..but if a parent has done their job right...it shouldnt be a problem

For the money the laptop should be more than adequate. The dual-core processor will handle processing photos and streaming music very well. The Graphics card seems alright, but is not high-powered. My opinion is that this should handle your son's computing needs just fine.

As a PC tech my opinion is that no 14 year old should have a laptop. They have no respect for just how fragile they are and how easily damaged they can become. Generally speaking also they make poor gaming machines mainly because they lack in the video performance category. Sorry kids, truth also is most adults don't treat them with respect either.

Looks like a pretty decent starter laptop. The only downside is that it only has 1 gig of ram, and running windows vista requires at least that much ram. 2 gigs of ram would be better.

I am 14 and would be thrilled to have that laptop. It looks like great quality and is definitely great for its price. I think that your 14 year old will love it! =) I sure would!
