    Sgoldperson, when Mario retired the first time, he was still second. He didn't 'pass' Gretzky until Gretzky played his 1461st game 2+ years later.

    It was Mario until he came out of retirement. Those last few games took him down just enough that Wayne passed him. So LITY got it right, as usual, but want to clear up where the first person got it wrong.
