I am trying to start a new business.?

I want to sell fish tank aquariums from a website without premises. I will be earning under the threshold for VAT (under £64,000 pa) and will not be trading livestock.

Do I need a pet shop license even though I have no premises or livestock?

No, you are aiming to sell equipment and not live stock, make sure you get a good carrier as when things arrive damaged your customer needs to know they will not be held responsible. Good Luck

No, no license is required as you are simply trading equipment.

I hope you have considered the amount of space your stock of aquaria will take up, and the necessary packaging needs to securely post your sales.

Get a good deal with a courier to give you a flat rate per consignment up to about 30kg.

A good place to start, as I have answered to so many people is Ebay, try not to waste money on a Website until you are sure your business model works.

You will need to register with HMRC within 3 months of trading to go self-employed.
