What does everyone think about this 16 team playoff!!?

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/dogsiynohtnA...

Now this would be something to get excited about after the regular season!! I mean seriously, how can anyone get excited about Missouri and West Virginia playing in a National Championship game!? Or even worse, if one of those 2 teams lose their last game, Ohio State jumping up and playing in the game for the 2nd straight undeserving year!!!

Just for a friendly argument....Look at the bracket and pick 2 teams that you think would be playing in "The Big Game!"

Update:

Hey dg,

The teams should erase 3 or 4 of those "cupcake" games that they put in their schedule to pad their records and keep them high in the polls. That way, we can see who the "real" National Champion is! Agree?

Update 2:

A 4 team playoff would be as jumbled as what we have now, an 8 team would be a little better, but still you need more teams. Let me give THE reason why. Look at my bracket, and nobody in their right mind can tell me any reason why Florida wouldn't run the table in their side of the bracket and I don't see anyone on the other side of the bracket that I see Florida losing to. I know Florida lost to Georgia already, but it's so hard to beat the same team twice in one year, I don't see Georgia winning that game again. But I think it would be Oklahoma winning that bracket and Florida would smoke OK. And Florida is ranked 11 in this bracket and I think that is a little high for them, but that's why we need a 16 team playoff, because teams like Florida can beat any team on any given day!

I like the idea, the final execution I don't think right.

I mean come on Tulsa is gonna beat UCF seriously what were you thinking???

But really BC already beat VT once this year, in dramatic fashion no less, there's no reason to think the ACC Championship is going to be any different then the regular season.

4 teams??? dude do you watch any other college sports then

football??? NCAA basketball is 65 teams,

ice hockey, soccer, lacrosse are 16 teams.

baseball softball, tennis, are all 8 teams double elim

I recognize the truth that baseball has most effective eight groups within the playoffs. the groups that make the playoffs are, for essentially the most side, rewarded for doing good within the steady season. To me, the NBA and NHL playoffs are close to a comic story - you may have groups which can be slightly over, and commonly even under .500 going in each yr. Yes, commonly a staff would possibly get fortunate in MLB and win a department with a much less then stellar list. But so as to add a host of mediocre groups to a playoff method isn't a approach to that. Perhaps the ancient means used to be higher - play the steady season, a balanced agenda (without any of that inter league rubbish ) and conveniently have the fine staff within the AL and NL play a World Series. I could hate to look a staff get to the playoffs with a wasting list most effective to get sizzling and win the World Series. If you had been to develop it that so much, you may also as good simply do away with the steady season wholly, or make it most effective approximately eighty video games or so. A World Series Championship must be the outcome of getting a well season, no longer the outcome of gambling simply well ample to get into the playoffs after which getting a couple of breaks. if whatever, the playoffs must be lessen on a few, however if you want to not ever occur.

I think this is the best article that I have read in a while. I do think an 8 team playoff would be big enough, & just take the top 8 BCS teams & feed them in there. That would be exciting, & I would love to see Ohio State fall in the first round to any of these teams. They are such a joke & their schedule is absolutely hilarious. This is like the upper class taking advantage of the poor. Just because their conference has the most money, they are the ones preventing a playoff system. The BIG 10 is such a white boy cream puff conference. Put down your ear muffs and go play a team that might offer you a challenge. Sure Tennessee could play, UT @ Chattanooga, & Memphis, & Bowling Green & Sewanee. But they don't they choose to play teams like UCAl, UGA, Alabama, Florida, & LSU. But lets penalize them for their hard schedule and reward Ohio State for playing unranked teams & winning. The current system is a joke & a travesty for the players. Give these guys a chance to prove themselves on the field & don't make the decision for them in the board room you pompous jerks!!

I think it needs to be done!!! there is no way to know have the best teams with the current BCS system because teams like LSU who play killer schedules get penalized and schools who win out with a weak schedule get penalized too.. like Boise state last year and hawii. Honestly it would bring way more money for the schools. Something needs to be done though because it is a crimb that LSU is completly out of contention when it took the 6 overtimes to get their too losses. Both of which came against teams from the strongest conference in the nation, and both of which had a heisman candidate.

P.s. Im a Nole fan so this is unbiased, im not a LSU fan on here whining... BTW think there missing Jimbo now?

It is a step in the right direction. Except for picking 2 SEC teams as at-large. Florida should not be there. Here are the records of the Big6 conferences against each other this year.

    ACC 10-10

    BigE 7-8

    Big10 5-4

    Big12 5-6

    PAC10 5-3

    SEC 6-7

I would give Flordia's spot to ASU - it would have been Oregon until Dixon went down.

But I prefer an 8-team playoff - the Big6 winners and 2 at-

    large

    Round 1

Rose: USC (pac10) vs OSU (big10)

Fiesta: WVU (BigEast) vs Hawaii (at-large)

Sugar: LSU/Tenn (SEC) vs BC/VT (ACC)

    Orange: Mizz/OU (Big12) vs Georgia (at-large)

    Round 2

    Rose vs fiesta

    Orange vs Sugar

    Championship

    2 left standing

Hawaii would have to get in because of going undefeated, and Georgias spot could also be up for grabs.

It's dumb. Requiring teams to play as many as 4 more games makes no sense. At most, 4 teams should be included if you're going to have a playoff.

i like it but how can you leave Tennesse out?

    sec

    acc

    big 10

    big 12

    pac 10

    sun belt

    wac

    mac

    mwc

    should play down to 1

    with 2 at large bids

Whoa! How did you get that? Well that bracket is the opinion of Wetzel. I would agree with him.
