HDTV with basic cable?

ok i have a HDTV hooked up to basic cable. Obivously i don't get any HD channels. Is there a way to get HD channels without a HD cable box or an HD antenna?

Update:

Sorry guys, antennas are out of the question, my HDTV is in the basement...

Yes you can, if your TV has a QAM tuner. More and more new TVs are coming with QAM tuners in addition to the standard NTSC and ATSC tuners. If you don't have it, you'll need a cable box or an antenna. There is no such thing as an HDTV antenna-that's a marketing gimmick.

If your TV has a QAM tuner you can. You might even get a few music channels as well depending on what cable company you get service from. If your TV has a QAM tuner just go to your menu and hit setup and do a channel search. If it doesnt you can go to your local electronics store and buy a HD antenna. Either way good luck!

In my area we can get HD channels with plain rabbit ears on an HDTV.
