Her grandparents go every year and I was wondering what I need to do so she can go with them. Like a passport or letter and were can I get one? So they don't hassle them or can she just go with her birth certificate and her grandma?

You will need a notary public letter giving permission for her to travel abroad with her grandparents from both you and your husband. You will need to get her a passport.

You can do this, by going to the nearest US Postal Service and filling forms. You will also need to take a 2 x 2 passport size picture of her. Most post offices have them at their location. Call in advance, they can give you more information. You can also go online and fill out all the necessary documents online. There is a list of locations where you can submit these forms.

Remember, it takes many months to receive your passport after submitting it due to the high volume of applications.

    Good Luck!

Source(s): I've done it for myself, and my kids. Im single, and I needed permission from their father to apply for their passports. He either must be present, or sign a notarized form giving permission.

She needs a passport. Even if they are DRIVING to Mexico, get the child a passport...NEVER send a CHILD out of the country without a passport. See first website for how to get her a passport. Then she must have a letter signed by BOTH parents and notarized, stating that her grandparents have permission to take her to Mexico with them. See second website. Read 3rd parqgraph under "Important New Information." Have 3 notaried copies of the letter for them to cary in different parts of their luggage..to be on the safe side. I am an American living in Mexico and have brought my grandchildren down to visit me. It is NOT currently taking "many months " to get a passport...the rush is over for now. Current time is 6 to 8 weeks unless you have it expeditied..then it is 2 to 3 weeks.

She needs a passport, especially if they're flying. You can go to the post office to fill out the application. Go to a Ritz camera or the like to get passport photos. You'll need them when you apply. Depending on how soon you need it, you can have it expedited for an additional fee. I think about $100, but I don't remember. It's makes a big difference. But if you're not in a hurry, there's no need for the extra. Do it soon, bcuz the passport agency is really bogged down since they've changed their policies.

  • Depending on your daughter's citizenship. If she is an American citizen all she will need is a passport. If she is from another country, she might need a visa. Unfortunately a birth certificate is no longer enough, in terms of getting back into the US, or into Mexico for that matter.

Before Jan 1 she can go with just a birth certificate. After that date she will need a passport. You can apply online at SpinCityTravel.com under passport and visa applications

Any child or adult now needs to have a passport to get in or out of the country. Your best bet is to go to your local post office to pick up a form. You can have a passport done allot quicker by paying a little more. You can also go to your government web page and do it online.
