Buy it, the TV will function normally, during the digital switchover, all you need to get is a digital set-top box which cost about £20, and plug it in the back of your CRT TV, then you're practically watching digital TV. Depending on where you are the digital switchover date is different.

Yes , it will still work and receive a signal, all you will have to do is to buy a free view set top box for around £20 to £30 and connect this to your TV and you will be spoilt for choice and the digital picture quality is far better then the analogue so I would buy this at the same time when you buy your widescreen TV.

the switch over will be complete by the year 2011, I know this is a few years of, but why miss out on all those other channels,

    good luck and have fun.

we are advised that LED TVs use much less modern than the older CRT ones. actual the CRT had a heater in it which used extra modern than an LED exhibit, yet i've got self assurance particularly loads of heat popping out of the ventilation slots of my 37 inch LED television, so i'm not completely confident. as nicely to the television, of direction, there is likewise the digital converter or freeview converter, yet those use little or no ability. word, in spite of the shown fact that, the CRT gives you plenty extra advantageous definition than an LED television, which in many situations demands digital circuitry to strengthen their obvious definition, as pixels are plenty coarser than the beam in a CRT. as nicely, the horizontal circulation on an LED exhibit is quite 'jerky', and horizontal scrolling titles can often times be complicated to study.

I highly doubt a Widescreen CRT television is analog only.

I can almost guarantee you it has a digital and analog tuner built in, so you should have no problem.

But, if it is purely analog, you will have to buy a converter box for the television.
