2004 Chrysler Pacifica?

I am considering purchasing a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. To be honest the one thing that really is on my cons list is the fact it is a Chrysler product. I have had two foreign cars ( Toyota, and Mazda) loved them both and never had any problems other then maitenance. I alos have owned a Dodge neon- worst purchase I ever made and is the reason I am so critical of the product since the two brands are related. Could fellow owners, mechanics, anyone who has an opinion help me out with some reasons to or not to purchase this vehicle. This is not through a dealer- I am stationed in Germany, it is through a one owner family and the car is in excellent condition. I am looking for more of an opinion, positive or negative, or problems related to the car. Thanks for any input towards helping me decide.

The pacifica has been a solid car for Chrysler. As far as any inherent problems they are pretty solid. You have to remember that car has a lot o Mercedes engineering in it. So you probably wont have any issues. The other gentleman is incorrect about the engine it has a 3.5 liter high out put v-6 in it. This is a Chrysler engine. When Chrysler used Mitsubishi engines they had a lot of problems. The other thing to remember is drive safe and sane. He is also wrong about the gearing in imports they are not all geared to run at high speed. By the way something that might interest you in the last three years Toyota has had more recalls than anyone.

The other thing to remember is that cars built in eurpoe and japan are not made to drive anywhere in the world. If that were the case you would have the same cars here as in japan and Europe. The problem is that they cannot pass emissions here nor can they pass the safety testing here.

It doesn't surprise me that you had problems with the neon

those vehicles are built for economy and is Chrysler's lowest end car

the Pacifica is a much better vehicle and i think you'll find it has a Mitsubishi engine in it however if your living in Germany consider this

I lived there for three years in a place called Vilseck but the one thing people did very often was to drive American made vehicles on the autobahn which can wear them out just trying to keep up with traffic.

most domestic vehicles aren't built with transmissions geared for high speed driving because of our speed limits

vehicles built in Europe and in japan are designed to be used all over the world including the autobahn and they can reach much higher top speeds without damaging the engine.

make sure the vehicle has at least overdrive on it and be careful not to operate the engine over 4000 RPM's for too long.

    good luck

AS MUCH AS I DISLIKE CHRYSLER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE WAY THAT THEY ARE BUILT, THEY PROBLEMS THAT THEY HAVE AND THE WAY THAT THEY TREAT THE CUSTOMER, I HAVE NOT HAD A CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN OUR SHOP FOR BIG REPAIRS.

THE EVERYDAY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DOESN'T COUNT BUT IT SURE HELPS KEEP ALL VEHICLES RUNNING BETTER.

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY YES ON YOUR CHOICE AND HAVE FUN.
