Christians - do we shed our bodies when we die?

If we leave our flesh on earth and our souls go to their predetermined eternal location... how will that mean old devil torture me with his hell fire? If I have no body, no flesh, no nerves or brain because I left all that on earth, how will the devil do all these nasty things you guys warn me about?

We shed our bodies for a time.

A tortured spirit is of greater torment than physical pain.

I challenge you to enter a Mental Institution to witness first hand the torture of the human spirit or mind.

Without question we are made of Spirit and Flesh, with the Spirit the greater portion in my opinion.

You will not leave flesh until you overcome it by understanding the truth that sets one free. Common belief has death a friend and a power able to do something for man that God can't. When this is learned to be a lie, then the journey Godward will be quickened.

  • Lol... You atheists comedians make me laugh. Do you spend all they thinking up these crazy questions for a laugh?

By the way the soul is immortal and according to the catholic church and the Bible the soul is capable of being tormented. The greatest torture of hell is to be without the absence of God who is LOVE itself. To be without LOVE is hell.

God bless and God Love you!

    No.

The Bible teaches that we ARE souls, not that we have them. Hence when we die, the soul dies.

And the dead feel nothing, hear nothing, know nothing. No need to worry about those "eternal torment" lies. The only hope a dead person has is the resurrection.

Hell is described in the bible as complete separation from God and total darkness and complete solitude for all eternity. The pain you will feel will not be physical but on a whole other level. EXCRUCIATING!

Have you never heard of a tortured soul? Your body is only your shell on earth, your spirit is the undestroyable energy within.

The Church teaches that we will have new bodies. They take this teaching from Acts, when Jesus appeared to the disciples with a body that wasn't quite recognizable and could apparently move through walls and doors. But He could be touched, so there was something that at least resembled matter.

They teach that we will have a "glorified" body like Jesus, but they aren't specific as to what that is.

Whether you are saved or not, your body will be resurrected on a certain day.

If you are saved, then your body will be risen and transformed into a body of glory on the day of the Lord when He comes for the Church.

If you are not saved, your physical body will be risen and ll present in Hell for eternity.

  • Right.
