Should Black people be doing more for black Africans????

For example. You get a lot of Indians and Pakistanis who plough a lot of their money back in their countrys and support a lot of charities there.

They buy holiday homes and support the economy.

They emphasise one education. But you don't really get the same with black Africans except the odd person like Oprah.

I think it is a shame. Oh and please do not say it's because black people don't do well! The Zimbabwe immigrants that have come to England are so damn hard working and do emphasise the need for better representation of the race.

Who would have evet though they would ever build the worlds 2nd 7 star hotel in Pakistan eh.

HELPING ANY PERSON OR GROUP IS AN INDIVIDUAL COMMITMENT AND THE REASONS FOR DOING SO SHOULD NOT BE BASED ON LOCATION RACE OR DOGMA. DO AS YOUR HEART AND PERSONAL LEANINGS TAKE YOU. WE DO NOT ALL FOLLOW THE SAME DRUMMER.

The average "African-American" is actually not in the least bit African, and more American than most "white" people I know... After all, most "white" people hang onto at least a little bit of European heritage, while just about everything in the current "African-American" culture was borne right here in the states.

The people who call themselves black Americans go out and get good successful jobs, while most of the people who are desperately trying to retain the title of "African-American" are too busy buying rims and gold chains to give anything back to a "home country" they wouldn't recognize, or even survive in.

Kanye West's diamonds were probably dug out of the African mines at the expense of the lives of the Brothers and Sisters that he thinks Bush should care more about...

Ask yourself where your roots are from, cause unless you are native american, they didn't come from America originally. So where ever it s that you and your family roots are from, do you contribute or do anything for your rooted country???? That's what I thought, so why is it all about black people. Also, before a question like this, hate to tell ya, but many , many do, and Operah isn't the 1 and only. Why don't people in general do more for their fellow people. Should people be doing more for people????

Do not be fooled by what you see on TV. The vast Majority of Africans value education more than the average African American, the only reason you would find illiterates over there is due to the fact education is not free. You would have to pay your way through school and the only free schools are over crowded and the teachers are overwhelmed

The black American has about as much in common with the African as I do - and I'm a middle aged white guy

You've got to remember that the blacks in America really predate modern (e.g. 1900's) European immigration. They have no one in their families who 'remembers the old country'. And have not for many generations.

The American black community is hated by the African community, so why would they do more for a culture that hates them?
